I think this is the latest thread on decent respray places but apologies if not.
I'd like to get my Surly LHT resprayed as part of a rebuild, and currently live in Twickenham. I was going to use Armoutex in Hackney, but it sounds like they are inconsistent / quality is hit and miss these days.
Can anyone recommend an alternative respray place? Ideally budget but if necessary, higher end. Anywhere in or near London is ok but West would be best if poss. Thanks :))

Had the pleasure of following a pretty distasteful guy in an LFGSS hat from Hammersmith to Richmond. After shouting some kindly advice at me about not riding off from lights as they change from Amber to green , from a good distance of course whilst riding away from me, to give the advice real impact and make himself look really confident, he kept muttering to himself angrily at different traffic lights on the way west. I'm not usually speechless on my way home, but, mate, you managed it. Good to know there are testosterone filled roid heads on two wheels as well as four to watch out for now. Cheers buddy.

Thanks - it would be herne hill not an indoor track, and I'd pack a sack of tax free baby wipes to get the sled spic and span before daring to enter the oval :)
Cheers sumo - seems sensible and sounds like it is worth a go. If i manage to ride often enough I'll think about something dedicated but right now id just like to try riding something that I fit and know inside out and see how it goes.

hi
i want to start taking my dolan down to the track regularly, now i've finally switched out the components for track-legal stuff (including a fixed / fixed rear wheel that gives me, i think, 68 and 92 gear inches depending on which side I run it) .
i use the bike for commuting and weekend rides and have easton road bars and an ultegra front brake on it. I'm thinking that a relatively easy way to dual purpose the bike, would be to buy a set of track drops and a track stem, to ride to the track with the regular bars and front brake, then swap the bar and stem combo when I get there through removing the original set at the steerer, undoing the headset screw and the two vertical stem bolts, replacing with the track set, and fastening back up
i can't see why doing this carefully on a regular basis would weaken any parts, but i'm not a mechanic - am i missing something obvious? switching out alloy bolts for steel i guess?
grateful for advice

[QUOTE=foiegrashellscape;3475754] do most people ride this on their sunday best steeds, or do people ride it on cx / tougher bikes?
QUOTE]
It's a wapha event so i would suspect the former
Indeed, I assume a significant proportion of the riders will be on brand new Trek Domaines etc for the occasion.

guys who've done this before, do most people ride this on their sunday best steeds, or do people ride it on cx / tougher bikes?
i haven't ridden the event before and am thinking about using my surly LHT (on 32s) rather than my carbon ribble (on 23s). I just don't want to get dropped because i'm the only guy on a heavyweight!

Afternoon
Booked a trip to Lake Maggiore, northern Italia in late May for a week's riding with a bunch of mates, staying in a pimp villa in Lesa.
Anyone have experience of those roads?
We want to get some Giro di Lomabardia routes in, we'll have a van with us, but would like to ride out from Lesa as much as possible.
Long hard climbs preferable.
Cheers

had an o shit moment on sunday morning, went into the back of a mondeo in camden. lights were going to amber, and a mini behind me suddenly went to overtake me in my lane. i looked back over my shoulder for a split second, looked in front of me and the mondeo had stopped because of a car in front of him. i couldn't swere round as the mini had boxed me in, so i locked both wheels in the quarter second and got my gloved knuckles into position, then pounded into his boot at about 10mph. everything was ok but shook me up royally, massive adrenaline rush 3 mins later and i got lost on camden road even though i'm there all the time! any faster and it would have been serious. scary stuff.

guys, i'm still waiting after a good 10 days or so for login credentials to the rolla cc forum. i'm trying to find out if there's a ride on sunday morning this week - do they always go ahead? do they always start from the same place? any advice would be great as I can't write anything in the actuall rolla cc forum!!
thanks

rode home on the flooded london streets on my dolan fixed yesterday, totally mental and felt very dodgy. Took the LHT in this morning, still wet roads but so all that functionality and practicality shines when commuting turns into a bit of a winter slog, it's going to make this winter's bad weather commutes so much more tolerable than the past few years on skinny tires, quick steering and no 'guards has been :)

Blasting down the canal from totenham hale to springfield park fixed, forgot about one of those stretches of raised strips of bricks, was going fast enough when i realised that i had no chance of stopping / slowing and had to brace, then effectively did a series of unplanned vaults over it, desperately trying to hold on to the bars and stay upright. was impressed that the carbon fork didn't just snap! must have looked ridiculous.

Awesome, cheers @amey
