This was dug out of a pile of old bikes at the shop I work at and I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. From a bit of research I've done I know it was built in 1980 and the signatures on the top tube are those of the three Viscount factory team riders but beyond that I don't know anything. I'd like to restore it but don't have much to go on.
Any help is appreciated

The exact inner diameter of the seat tube (measured with vernier callipers) is 25.4mm but I'm assuming I need a 25mm seat post. Not sure though as there seem to be a million and one different sizes. All I know is the post I've got is about 6 inches long and I need one at least twice that length, me being a 6 foot 4 inch lanky bastard. :)

I'm after a 25mm seatpost of roughly 12" long for my latest single speed project. It's for a 1980s peugeot if that's any help.
I've tried looking round in all the local shops but nowhere has anything.
I'm not looking to spend much on this so even if the post has a bit of rust on it I'll still take it.
Any help would be appreciated. -

Certainly not porn worthy but I don't think it's too anti either :)
It's a shame about the forks but the threads on the one that came with the frame were stripped so I had to buy a different second hand set and rethread the steerer tube.
Any suggestions on colour co-ordination anyone, apart from the forks anyway? -

Starting on a new single speed project tomorrow: fairly old dawes frame in a sort of silvery blue colour with, unfortunately, brand X flyer wheels because these are the only ones I've got and a Dura-Ace 7402 crankset. I've also found a set of dawes handlebars which should finish off the build nicely. Will post pictures tomorrow. It's nice to be building something again with nice bits

I'll be adding a picture tomorrow but does anyone know anything much about a frame builder called Graham Tomlinson. He operated out of a premises just up the road from me I assume 30 years ago at least and there's one of his frames in the shop I work at. I haven't been able to find any info on the net so thought I'd ask here instead.

Yeah, I suppose the bikes not too bad. It was nothing more than an experiment with some spare bits I had lying around. I really want to do a road style SS though and I've got some much nicer road bits to bolt on as soon as I can get hold of a frame. Think Dura-Ace 7400 cranks and chainring and 105 brake callipers and drop levers :)

What is wrong with it?
If when you're at the back wheel of the bike looking down towards the cranks, and the chain is drifting outwards away from the rear cog, then try putting the front chainring on the inside, rather than the outside of the crank spider like you have now.
If it's drifting inwards then you can put spacers inbewteen the chain ring bolts to effectively shift the chainring further out.
The problem is that I need to move the chainring to the inside of the spider but there isn't any room. It's only out by maybe 1 or 2 mm but like I say, without getting the bottom bracket out and fitting one with a longer axle (which I already have) to enable me to adjust things properly there's not a lot I can do about it. Plus the frame is too small for me, hence the half mile of seatpost on show.

I'm still trying to sort the chainline and the chainlength but I'm very close to giving up because, to get the right chainline I need to change the bottom bracket which is very stuck.
Plan B is to put all the gears back on and swap it for a road frame at my friendly neighbourhood bike shop. Unless anyone wants to buy it off me that is :)
I'm withdrawing my interest I'm afraid, I've just checked the bank balance and it's too low at the moment. Good luck with the sale though
