Hello all,
I'm in the process of making the final preparations for the Dave Creasy memorial Six. The weather is booked!! So is the beer!!
If you are planning to ride in the support races, please note that sign on closes at 11:30, so please get down early to allow the volunteers to watch their own kids race etc.
I can't believe the buzz surrounding this event! It's gonna be a great day. We have confirmed the De Ver cycles are now sponsoring the Madison Devil, which has become affectionately know as the 'De-veril' :-) Spokesman have also generously sponsored the Madison flying 200m TT races (no catchy name for these though sorry!)
See you there.

Hi all,
Thanks for the interest in the event. Its gonna be a good one! I'm currently confirming the beer supplier and we're nearly good to go!
Yes, online entries via the BC site are now closed. The Senior Madison races and Youth A madison races are now full. There is still lots of space in the supporting (B cat) races and womens events for entry on the day. I want 15 women to have separate racing, although I know one or 2 of the youth girls will be also riding the womens racing!
Spectators get in free! we have Belgie Europop, Bratwuurst sausages, burgers, beer, frites and mayo, goodies for kids, cycle jumble, condor cycles stall, Look mum no hands coffee wagon, and subject to confirmation, kiddies facepainting by the Friends of Herne Hill velodrome. To top it all we have the most entertaining racing programme in British track racing. Bring the family and the good weather!
See you there!

Dave Creasy memorial Six – 2012
The Dave Creasy memorial Six - a huge success in 2011 – returns to Herne Hill Velodrome on Sunday 9th September 2012. If you haven’t quite had your fix of track racing by then due to the British summer weather, or didn’t manage to get Olympic tickets, then this event will be sure to provide some entertaining bike racing, whether you’re a spectator or rider.
The ‘Six Days of Ghent’ theme is back in with a vengenace, with riders undertaking flying Madison 200m time trial, Madison Elimination race, Derny races, and the 30km ‘Ploegkoers’ Madison among the races in the Dave Creasy memorial trophy for the senior riders, with cheesy Flandrian Euro pop, beer, frites with Mayo, and Bratwurst sausages to keep the crowd fed throughout the day. Spectators get in FREE!
For 2012, there will be a full Women’s only programme of non Madison events including a derny race, and a full Madison programme for youth riders, taking the form of the ‘DSC Talents Trophy’, inspired by the UIV Talents Cup events at Six Day Races, with ‘DSC’ keeping the memory of Dave alive. ‘Mr Creasy’s Danish line race’ returns for the younger youth riders, and there will also be a full programme of non Madison support races for 3rd and 4th category riders.
Entries for Senior and Youth Madison close on August 24th with no Entry on the line for riders in the Senior Madison. Youth riders will be placed in the youth event, not in the senior races. Entry on the line is available for other categories, but due to the popularity of the event last year, entry in advance is advised. Please enter via the BC website;

Hi all, I would set this up on a different thread but not sure my account lets me do it yet.
I still have loads of space for the support races at the Dave Creasy memorial Six meeting, but only space for 1 more pair in the Madison Omnium. Its a great opportunity after the 'Back in Black' meeting to race on the new surface, and the last major Open meeting of the year.
It would be great to get a better idea of riders planning to ride in advance, rather than have everyone enter on the line. The support races are not madison based, so don't worry if you can't do Madison!! If you're intending to ride please get your entry in via this link;
http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/74212/The-Dave-Creasy-Memorial-Six
Don't worry that there is no separate event listed for support races on the BC site (this was my fault when putting the event on BC site), just enter via the Madison 'enter' button, and drop me a message letting me know what race category you'd like to go in.
Failing that, if you don't fancy racing, there is a beer tent confirmed, food, Ghent 6 themed music and Cycle Jumble amongst other stalls, so please pop down if you fancy an entertaining afternoon with a few beers and a burger enjoying some madison racing, in memory of Dave Creasy, who did so much for our track and cycling.

The Dave Creasy memorial Six
Sunday September 11th 2011 sees a brand new event come to Herne Hill, in memorial of the late Dave Creasy. Dave was a stalwart of the activities at Herne Hill, and his dedication to the track and cycling in general for decades helped people of all ages and backgrounds take up the sport, from recreational leisure cyclist to Olympic champion. Dave is hugely missed by the cycling community.
The meeting will provide a fitting tribute to Dave. He was an avid supporter of the annual ‘Six Days of Ghent’ track event, attending every year, and the meeting will contain a 6 day theme consisting of a Madison Omnium for the senior ‘A’ category riders, including reverse sling Madison 200m TT, derny race, Madison Elimination, and a 30km ‘Ploegkoers’ Madison race. There will be special events as Dave particularly supported both women’s and youth racing. Along with versions of the senior ‘A’ races for women and older youth riders, there will be ‘Mr Creasy’s Danish line race’ for youth riders, a particular favourite of Dave’s, and a women’s derny race. Alongside the racing there will be Ghent themed music for entertainment, beer tent, cycle jumble, stalls, food and drink and plenty to keep spectators going whilst enjoying the racing. Entry to spectators will be free.
We have more than £1500 prize fund for the event, including £200 for the winning Senior A pair, thanks to Herne Hill Velodrome and friends of Dave.
The Dave Creasy memorial Six will also be the official opening event for the new track surface at Herne Hill, and following the event there will be open track riding for all and a free film night organised by the Save the Velodrome Campaign.
Please come along, either as rider or spectator, and support the memory of a man who gave so much to cycling. Please contact John Scripps at davecreasymemorial6@hotmail.co.uk for more details, or follow the event on Twitter @DaveCreasySix. Riders can enter the event online via the British Cycling website. Senior A and Female category riders should look for a partner to ride with, and closing date for entries is 1st September (there is NO entry on the day for senior A or women). There will be entry on the day for senior B riders (there are no Madison events for senior B’s).
Online entries close on 9th September for youth riders although youths can enter on the day at a cost of £3. Youth A riders should also find a partner to ride with before the event, and entering in advance is encouraged.
See you on the day!!Cheers,
John
To clarify my last post just in case, the youth race sign on closes at 10:30. All youth racing starts at 11:00
SENIOR support/women races will start at 12:30, with sign on closing at 11:30.
Cheers,
John
