If it's any help, I can only compare Endorphin Pro2 to Metaspeed Edge+, but only a handful of runs in the latter. They definitely feel more peppy, but not enough data to say whether they're actually any quicker.
Shoe question! Does anyone have experience of Takumi Sen v10, re: sizing, specifically women's? (Asking for a friend.)

Ha! I sweated my way to 16:16.96 for 5,000m, a nice improvement on a few weeks ago, and good enough for 4th V50 ranking (now down to 15:14 for 1st this year!) Happy with that on a largely solo run in a bit of wind. Cheers again for the shoes @duncs, legs were buzzing in bed after such a late race but calves fine today.

I can understand that. Any idea what the field looks like? Don't be tempted to go with any youngsters, they've either gone off way too quick or are just bloody quick. Either way, lap 2 could be nasty. (Says the person who's never been brave enough to race anything shorter than 1,500m.)
We're on final day of holiday in a wet and windy Weymouth, so I'm pleased to have got 5 runs in over the last week. 5,000m at Sutcliffe Park next Wednesday to look forward to.

Glad to hear it. ITBS was my first proper running injury about 17 years ago but it's never resurfaced thankfully. Hopefully the same for you if you manage it well.
I sneaked a 1-second course pb at the Thames Path parkrun yesterday, 16:35. Happy with that on a breezy day, certainly helped by being in a "race" for most of the run before pulling away in the last km.
And just treated myself to yet another new pair of cheat shoes, Asics Metaspeed Edge+ (in bright red to match race shorts). The marketing around Sky vs Edge appeared confusing at first but as a mild heel striker with a reasonably quick turn-over (~187 at 5k pace), Edge seemed the way to go. Hopefully will feel snappier than Endorphin Pro 2, which are very comfy but I'm not convinced make me any quicker.

Big thanks to @duncs for the new cheat spikes (Dragonfly). Crikey, either my Garmin's doing a funny one (but it's usually pretty reliable on Charlton parkrun) or I'm fitter than I thought, or these shoes are worth a bit of pace. 16:18 for a 5k time-trial on the grass round Charlton Park. Shoes felt great. Need to find me another 5,000m race again soon.

First time on the track for 2.5 years on Saturday, for the Southern Athletics League, Div 2. 16:31 in the 5,000m, was hoping for something a bit quicker than 5 seconds inside my last parkrun time, but running on the track is such a head-fcuk! Also got involved in an actual race and thought I did well there; my club mate eased away from me about 2/3 laps in (finishing in 16:11) and it felt too hard to go with him. Spent the rest of the race catching a couple of runners, sitting on them, being past by another guy, then sitting on him, then getting ahead and not being passed again. The final-lap gurn-fest was worth the effort because a couple of the young'uns behind me closed to within two seconds at the finish. Phew! What with it being early season, it's good enough for 2nd on the V50 rankings. Feel like I wanna give it another go though.
Calves were toast for a couple of days from wearing non-cheat spikes on the track. Almost feels like justification for splurging on some Dragonflies (anyone??) for my birthday.

I tried to donate plasma a little while ago, but when I turned up they told me they needed blood just as much so since I'd not donated before, was I OK donating the usual? Anyway, since then I've earned my 25 badge (aaah-WOOF!), which is actually 26 cos the first one was so long ago it's not on the current system. Just another 25 or so to catch up with my dad...

Yes, indeed. In the past I've been in the habit of running long runs on empty, which was fine most of the time but occasionally, particularly on warm days, my sweat would get an ammonia whiff to it, which always coincided with me feeling a little light-headed.
As for early morning sessions, I agree that fueling shouldn't be an issue since you're not doing great volume. Plenty in the tank from the night before. Not a big fan myself as I'm not the best in the morning and I like to get my loo stops sorted! (Parkrun is early enough for me, and then it's up at 7.15, single slice of toast and a coffee...)

Cheers all!
@duncs - yeah, got over 50 mpw for peak HM training earlier in the year, but generally 40 - 45mpw at the moment. Typical week is just 5/6 mile easy runs in the week, pr Saturday and long run 12/13 on Sunday.
Next scheduled race is 5,000m at Southern Athletics League at Dartford in 2 weeks. Haven't set foot on the track for over 2 years but logic says it should be quicker than a (slightly wiggly) parkrun course. Something about "proper athletics" on an actual track really gets the nerves jangling!

16:36 Thames Path parkrun this morning, another 10 seconds off my v50 course record, and my fastest post-lockdown. Happy with that!
I'm following all the cheat shoe chat with interest. No marathon plans imminent, so really looking for something ideal for 5-10k range. Takumi Sen / Metaspeed of some sort seem worth considering. The only carbon shoes I've got are Saucony Endorphin pro, v2. Very comfy combination of cushioning and relatively light, but I'm not convinced they actually propel me along any faster. (Wore some well-used Endorphin Speed - nylon plate - this morning. Love those.)

Runner's World have taken the opportunity to rehash an interview with Emil Cairess from last year, and it's a good read.
TL;DR:
- Keep it simple for most runs, run without GPS because "easy" and "steady" are what they are.
- Best go-to session for anything from 5k to marathon is threshold/tempo.
- Run off-road as much as possible. You'll enjoy your running when you're closer to nature. (I'm liking this guy's hippy vibe.)
- Fish and chips.
And a not-so-subtle advert for Adidas running shoes. Did anyone notice that nearly all the elite podium were wearing Adidas and no Nike? And yet people get Vaporfly because "everyone else is wearing them"? I feel like Nike have played a blinder getting in there first with the super shoes, but have the other brands actually caught up?

Some cracking footage from the Friday Night Under the Lights 10k
at Battersea Park on, er, Friday night. I sneak in (#101) at 11 - 14 mins as I was hovering around the front of the women's race. Quality field, and I was happy to get dragged around in 33:48. Good enough for a top 10 UK V50 ranking so far this year, even though I wasn't even 1st V50 in the race! -

Just to add to @doubleodavey's suggestion, if you get off the DLR at Westferry, not only does this give you easy access to Poplar/20.5 miles, you can also walk the other way to about the 15 mile point. So you get to see people twice, and get to appreciate just how badly five miles round the Isle of Dogs has affected them!
If you're feeling particularly mobile you could start at Creek Road, Deptford (7 miles), then jump on the DLR at Greenwich to head to the Docklands. But avoid Greenwich itself, which is heaving. As is the Embankment.

Have you had an accurate diagnosis of the root cause? (If you've not had an MRI, I'm guessing maybe not?) I ask because I had acute groin pain which wasn't properly diagnosed all the way through physio investigation, then X-ray and MRI (both of which were through GP referral) until a referral to an orthopedist, who immediately diagnosed femeroacetabular impingement (FAI). I was then referred for keyhole surgery (or give up running for good... er, no!), all through the NHS. 3 month wait for a consultation, another 3 month wait for surgery, then 2/3 months rehab and back to running. Not saying your condition is the same or even related, but could you go back to the GP and get a specialist referral to an orthopedist?

Yeah, I wouldn't be without my (double) buggy but it has its limits in terms of when it's either a useful time (one or more little ones needs a nap) or whether someone won't even get in it, like you say!
I feel I get enough opportunity to run outside without resorting to a treadmill. Then again, I do have an indoor rowing machine, which is definitely my preferred indoor exercise equipment if I need to be around, but it doesn't get much use* compared to the time spent outdoors running. (Might review this after this weekend's HM is out of the way...)*OTOH, a new Concept2 costs under a grand and is bombproof, so keeps its value. Sure we'll keep it though.

Friday Night Under the Lights 5k this evening in Battersea Park, and some silly quick times. I was happy to finish a little way down the field of the third fastest race (out of four) in 16:10. Only good enough for 4th v50 on the night (my club mate improved his top v50 ranking time with 15:09!) but very happy with my fastest time over the distance in 9 years, and just 6 secs outside my road pb.
Maybe the sub-16 dream is still alive!
