Sorry if there is already a thread to do with this, I'm on my phone which is dogshit for the interwebz.
Just been called by a mate who works for 5live and they've had reports of cyclists being attacked during the riots and he was wondering whether anyone I knew/from the forum had whitnessed/experienced this and would be prepared to talk to them.
As far as I know everyone I know personally is ok but thought I should a) mention this has been reported so people can be extra vigilant and b) if you have been unfortunate and been involved and want to talk about it just to say to pm me and I will pass on his details.
Ride safe, I still can't believe this shit is happening and just hope everyone is ok out there.
Dan/maccaThere was a guy who works as a QI researcher who tweeted that he was mugged in wimbledon for his bike

Someone call the fuzz! Jeez!
Aye, how come this was all on camera and no secuity turned up?
By the way, how do you know it was this chap - or is it just a guess? -
From the guardian blog:
Lack of secure places to lock bikes is a big problem. Interesting that hundreds of sites have been found for 'boris bike' racks, despite having to go through the planning process and many objections, yet there are far too few bike racks in London in general. A problem that has certainly put me off from cycling into the centre on occasion.
so true.
Prince Negged for being a bleeding heart. The prick needs a good kicking. (I didn't neg you but fuck em)
This is so true and a very good point. If London is supposed to be a cycling city, why are there not more bike racks. Hopefully people who can do somethign about it will pick up on the thread and do something about it.
When was the blog post written. I think I might post it about ab it and get the ball rolling.

OK, new to all this so thanks again.
My matt black Specialized Sirrus Sport 2011 was stolen from near Guys hospital on Monday 27th June. It has a silver bor yueh pannier rack and black bottle cage. They left the front wheel which is still locked to where I put the bike.
Sadly it is only 6 weeks old, so I can't say much else about it, and it is a popular make of bike. Still you never know!
It was parked outside two packed cafes and I guess noone noticed, so they must have been quick.

You can't post a new thread yet but you can post in existing threads, as VanUden suggests. It's better not to start new threads for most stolen bikes, anyway. More people will see it if it's in here.

No, do post your bike, ideally with pictures, but also make sure to send pictures to the Cycle Task Force. Just don't post on here when you've seen a Gumtree ad or eBay listing, as this might make sellers nervous. Send all this information directly to the police. I assume you've seen this thread:
Hi Oliver,
I hadn't seen this thread, so thanks for posting again.

Yes Jessiclees as Oliver says do post about your stolen bike here with as much detail as possible on the bike and the theft and do contact Cycle Task Force, do a search for their details. However, if you then see your stolen bike being advertised on gumtree or eBay while looking for it don't post on this thread saying something like:
OMG hav just seen my stolen bike on gumtree n heres the link xxxxxxxx am gonna call the seller now and arrange to meet them wiv my brother and all his mates and a baseball bat...
Because this will very probably alert the thief that you now know where your stolen bike is. They pull the ad. You don't get any closer to your bike. Unfortunately this sort of thing has already happened a few times here. M'kay.
Ha ha, got it. Thanks very much for the advice will do as you suggest and leave my brother and baseball bat at home!

It wasn't locked, but stolen from the pit area, where you'd expect the team's bikes to be safe:
You may be genuinely unaware of this high-profile theft. I would assume that magnier is Andy Magnier:

Hope it is found, Andy. These thefts of high-end bikes happen so often on the European racing circuit that you'd assume the bikes are split for parts. It's hard to imagine that they go to private collectors who keep them in private museums, as apparently happens with art.
Hi there,
Do you mean don't post messages about stolen bikes in this forum or on gumtree? It would be good to know what to do about mine that went last night
Why spam?
