Thanks, I ended up booking Brands again (20th Feb) while there was a Black Friday code, Bedford was the other one that I was thinking actually so good to know, I might book that too! I like the idea of more run off, seeing two cars going into the barriers fairly heavily at Brands was a bit unnerving.
A video from the day we were there popped up on youtube from one of the guys my brother recognised who was there in his M2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDNc94fJScs
The MX5 looks awesome, great pic! I was getting tempted by the thought of a track day car that my brother and I could share but I don't think it's a very practical idea, i may have lingered on a few adverts for Clio's and RX8's... Annoyingly I did have an R53 that I was reluctant to sell when I got my 996 and offered to my brother but he wasn't up for it, it was tuned a bit and very nippy would have been perfect ugh.

Happy Friday, if anyone’s is in the market for a Speedy I have this that I’d be willing to let go as it does get much wear. Hesalite sandwich, mid 90’s, tritium dial, full set, original bracelet and Uncle one too…

Yes enjoyed it, been eyeing up another, would deffo do brands again as it’s so close but also considering other circuits. What do you do about insurance out of interest?
After my recent encounter with a pothole I now have round wheels again, fresh rubber on the front and an alignment. Will get a claim in to the council and see how I get on 🤞

So my first track day, an open pit lane day arranged by Track Obsession at Brands Hatch (Indy circuit). I took my brother as a bit of a birthday treat and we drove my 996. My main takeaways:
- it’s great to know what your car feels like and how it behaves when close to the limit, so much grip!
- It’s quite stressful doing it in your own car, that you’d like to keep in one piece and have to drive home, especially when it’s damp and you see some crashes! Quite overwhelming initially as a newbie.
- Navigating traffic (it was quite busy) doesn’t take too long to get to grips with.
- Watching the other cars go round and mooching round the garages is a lot of fun in itself.
- Brands hatch Indy is great and perfect for a novice for exactly the reason @NurseHolliday said - fewer corners = more practice and improvement. Paddock hill bend is bonkers!
- It was great to go with someone else as a newbie, deffo recommend that you get to share the experience (and cost!).
Really enjoyed it, my brother also recognised a couple of people from YT/sim racing originally - Super GT and Jimmy Broadbent driving a ratty but very rapid flame-spitting mk4 Supra. Id deffo do it again 👍

First track day (ever) with my bro coming up, thought it would be fun and a bit of a treat for his bday. Taking my 996 which I think is pretty healthy, had fresh brake fluid recently. It's just the short/indy track at brands, open pit lane. Any tips for enjoying/surviving it? I'll be getting insurance for the day from Moris.

I got the autoglym one just bc it was quite cheap and easy to get from Halfords, it’s ok. Should have probably got the gtechniq stuff have heard good things and use some of their other stuff.
Clicked over into the 996’s 2nd hundred thousand miles last night on a nice moonlit spin, saw a nice 964 too.

R53 fan, she’ll forgive you, they’re really great fun. I’m not sure many would take a 56 over a 53 in terms of reliability if that’s paramount?
