At 60 quid, this fork was not exactly expensive! I live in hope that it's been made to last. I had a strange time with the Modus threadless headset. I made tools to press it in as well as to knock out the old bearing races.. The new headset clicked in without a press. There is no play and feel solid, so I'll leave the DIY press tool for future projects :)

I unwittingly logged in as user74323 - here I am in my real persona. Yes, the fork is an exotic MTB fork I picked up off ebay - It was the cheapest fork I found with 1 inch steer and disc brake mounts. It's much longer than the original and hence the rake is increased and the steering made slower. With a long stem and straight bars it was absolutely terrible at slow speed. The swept back handlebars quickened up the steering and I'm surprised how nice it is to ride. Ultimately high speed stability was the priority. I am a bit worried that a carbon fork can fail suddenly and catastrophically - are these forks any good?
Also I will see how the leather satchel will hold up the test of time. If I could find something frame mount that would look good on a vintage road bike then I'll do it. I thought of ortlied dry bags, also the Specialized Burra Burra is on the radar.
This is my first ever ebike build, in fact first ever bike build, and third time ever on an ebike. My daily ride is a specialized langster steel with porteur handle bars. Nothing special, but dependable.

Claud Butler Majestic on 26" wheels?
I need help here. I want to build a retro inspired ebike that doesn't scream ebike. I bought this pink bike from ebay because of those chunky tyres. How do those brakes fit so well on a frame designed for 27" wheels?
The bike rides nice enough, no complaints bar the reduced ground clearance, not helped by the long cranks. I'm concerned about the front forks which seem to flex when you slam the front brake or take a tight turn. I tightened the nut on the top of the fork tube and I am pretty sure it's the forks flexing.
I'm also planning to pull a Bob Yak trailer, you can see the mounts on the rear axle. Is this taking it too far with this frame?
I'm considering putting on rigid steel MTB 26" forks and narrow riser bars in hope of stiffening up the front end. What do you think, is this frame up to it? Local bike shop says no...

You might have seen this one on ebay :) I got it because of the chunky tyres on a roadbike frame. I want to convert it to an ebike, plus pull a bob yak trailer... am I going too far with this frame? The forks feel very springy and taking a tight turn with the trailer makes the front wobble.
Apparently it's a Claud Butler Majestic designed for 27" wheels. Rear dropout is 126mm. How are those 26" wheels fitting so sweetly with the brakes?
Is it worth rebuilding the front with new forks and chunkier stem, or would this stress the rest of the frame too much? It's apparently 531 tubing, but I suspect this frame was resprayed and decals lost.
Or should I let it go ...

Daimm, posting on forums actually works! Cheers dudes.
Indeed, from what I gather, they have upgraded the Focale since this post last discussed it. They got rid of the red pain, and upgraded the saddle, amongst other things pointed out by others..
By all means, I understand the gashness of Create bikes, but clearly these are made by people who had no previous bike building experience, sent them off to be made in China (not saying that Focale doesn't), but it takes a few iterations before you can get a factory to churn out something of acceptable standards, if at all (considering it's in China).
I was going to go for a Charge Plug 2010 for 299 (which I think is where it starts to make sense) at evans, but they sold out the large frames, so I'm back at square one.
Thanks for the suggestions, Pompino and Iro frames - I'm not keen on the sloping top tubes..Iro looks good.. sans cable stops.
I would stick with my Raleigh, but I believe I will have a bit of torture with converting to fit a cartridge bottom bracket and also having track forkends rather than dropouts would be a nice change.

This will be an interesting, first-ever forum post in my life; nothing like choosing an outdated thread and going against the grain of what looks like serious shit throwing...
I will admit that I came across this post because I was interested in a Focale 44 Revolted bike and was searching for reviews.. well I certainly found an honest one.. or did I.
I know f**k all about brands, but I know about fixed, because I ride one everyday for the past three years to work, uni, etc. A battered old Raleigh that served me well, love it to bits, but as with all affairs it comes with pain; my hands are aching and dirty from all the repairs I face with it, because I don't have the cash to pay someone to do it. I thought I'd rather save up and buy an OTP made by someone who makes a living by making bikes.
What boggles me is that none of you seem to know anything about the brand, never ridden the bike, and simply assumed it's shit. Not saying it's not. Custom parts, probably shit, but how can you say until you've tried it. Considering it comes from a massive BMX company, where they make bikes for dudes who brake bones for fun, and batter their bikes like you will never do, I would hope their gear is sound.
If I've missed something obvious then I deserve a severe battering. I'll enjoy it. Nevertheless I rather not assume before I did my homework and was wondering whether the heated shit throwing came from empirical knowledge.
... on another note - anyone know a frame with track forkends that can handle tyres larger than 32C?
There, I've said it - a great big rant to a post that no one will reply to :)
Thanks dude, I had the spacer stack as a buffer against inadvertent errors when cutting my first steer tube. There is also the option of more aggressively angled stems. I will first flip the handlebars :)
There is a lot to consider when deciding how to approach your ebike build. This mid-drive was fairly painless as the controller is built into the motor and all you need is a battery and all the other necessary parts come with the motor. You just need to make sure that your bottom bracket has the right dimensions. I ordered it from Aliexpress, the motor is Chinese but high end - Bafang BBS02
I got the battery built by ampedebikes, the configuration is 14S2P
The best place to start is endless-sphere forum and the info page of this shop from California ebikes.ca/learn
Would I get in trouble for posting links to those companies on this page?
