I had a similar issue when I had a pair of CXP14 when I had them reanodised black. The feckin things dissolved. I managed to find 32 and 36 hole rims and got them all out and have used 64 of them.
I'm getting my rebuilt wheels back tomorrow and I should have 5 or 6 left over which you are welcome to have. I'll let you know tomorrow
Cheers

I'm going to get a mate to make up a cast metal head tube badge for my Koga.
I fancy the KM logo as shown in this pic with polished edges and black centre
He does good work as shown in one he did for my Kona
Anybody else want one? If so drop me a mail to and if there is enough interest I'll find out how much they will be (normally around the £20 each mark )

Hadn't thought of stripping a black one, that's a pretty good idea. You reckon standard oven cleaner will do it? Might give it a blast on an old post before i fork out for the Thompson cos they aint cheap.
I normally use Mr Muscle oven cleaner and Thomson stuff is hard anodised so it will take a few goes.
Just spray it all over and leave it for a while. Better to do several goes at it rather than one very long one. Wash it off each time and don't forget to use a container that is:
- big enough to get it in lying down so you can cover it all over
- doesn't melt when in contact with oven cleaner
- not your lunchbox
Best of luck and remember to wear gloves
- big enough to get it in lying down so you can cover it all over

You could always get a black one stripped of its anodising and polished.
Just use spray on oven cleaner. you'll have to give it a few goes as Thomson anodising will be tough as buggery or look up anodisers in the yellow pages and get them to do it

This trader in Oz seems to have loads of decals for old frames
I'm going to try out a set of the Koga ones unless someone else has used them and they're shite

Hi All
I got donated an old Raleigh recently (1980 something I think) and am currently running it as my shopper bike. It's a nicer frame than my other Raleigh so looking at doing a swap once I've had it painted.
It's a bit scruffy and the previous owner had removed all the decals but there is a trace outline of a Reynolds sticked but I can't make out if it says 531 or 501
Anybody know where I could find out?
Thanks in advance for any assistance
Cheers

Hi All
I'm currently running a Synchros stem on my Koga and it's too extreme for me aged body and is resulting in short rides and back ache.
It's a 130mm negative rise stem for a 25.4mm bar and I need one that goes up rather than down
Here's pics of the current one
I'm not fussed about keeping with Synchros but it must be shiny silver
Cheers in advance for any help
Ken
