Any main route that's not safe for someone who is (say) 15 or 65 to cycle.>
Hey, I'm over 65 and I cycle on every road in Hackney and I haven't died yet - problem solved.
While we are bashing each other with obscure research I recently came across this selection showing that the increase in casualties at junctions on segregated routes cancels out the reduced casualties on links.

On June 29th Robert Millar wrote in the Guardian
A good time-trial result has still been essential to the Sky leader and the pace-setting that the support riders dictate on the mountains has remained at same high level but Froome's climbing abilities are superior to Wiggins in one vital area: he can produce an injection of pace which very few people can follow and that opens up a whole new set of possibilities, especially at this Tour where there are four mountain-top finishes.

It would be great if Brixton Cycles could get more votes than the big operators who just push for volume sales. -
I find it a real shame ..... It's because of his track record that I preferred him (and Passion) over the guys at Balderton (all ex-wankers for the burst banks).
If he stays in the game, then I will still prefer Passion (and I hope he is able to stay with the company he helped found).
The least he could do is change the company name.I would think that the game has now changed. You and we have demonstrated real market power. We hit the target six times faster than any other Seedrs launch. There is a 12% bonus promised by patrons.
That is likely to be noticed, the next Seedrs round could raise much more. You could find a queue of big investers, all willing to "help".

I have emailed Seedrs to see if I can sell part of my holding to others who registered but missed the deadline.
The reply from Jeff Lynn says if I sell any shares in 3 years I'll lose the 50% tax relief.
Thanks very much for your note. You're very welcome to sell your shares to
other Seedrs members (or those who become members), but I'm afraid it
can't be done until after the investment has been made and the shares
issued. At that point we can help you facilitate it for no charge at all,
but unfortunately the new investors won't be able to claim SEIS relief,
and you will lose the benefit of SEIS relief on the shares you've sold
(because the HMRC withdraws relief if you dispose of your shares within
three years).I do appreciate that this creates a sub-ideal situation, and that it would
be preferable if the sale could happen before the shares are issued, but
the FSA is very restrictive on our ability to operate a "secondary
market". We persuaded them to permit us to register private sales of
shares once issued, but we can't facilitate trading in the period before
completion of the investment. -
I'll gladly sell my shares for 200p on the pound...
It seems that Microcosm does have some value. With the Buro9 assets it could be worth more than that. I'm glad that you are not going for a second round just now, when the time comes it would be more effective to charge more for the dilution of your/our share.
I was lucky and got in around midnight. I have emailed Seedrs to see if I can sell part of my holding to others who registered but missed the deadline. This would be a deal for friends not for profit. -
Sorry, im a simpleton so can someone explain to me what happens if i invest £500? Im aware that I can potentially lose £500 and Im not expecting instant returns but what feasibly could I gain (apart from a warm fuzzy feeling!)
I'm concentrating on the warm fuzzy feeling. That's what makes it worth while. As we are discovering, Seedrs is a small start up company currently experiencing a rush of interest. I guess that Microcosm will be one of their instant successes that funds support for the less viable schemes on offer.
I wouldn't worry too much about the slow once a day processing of deposits. Once you are in you can commit to pay before the funds arrive. Once you battle through the questionnaire and checks you discover that their model is for investors to spread their cash across many start-ups.
Looking at the 3 viable schemes currently in play the median investment is about £250, the lowest is £10. If everyone on lfgss got over the registration wall and put in £10 that would be real crowdfunding - lots of warm fuzzy feelings with almost no distressing risk. Doing that might break the Seedrs management capacity and I'm sure it doesn't fit their marketing model.
Microcosm has probably brought 100 new investors into their system, if we stick around and put £100 here or there they will be very happy. The seedrs business model is interesting, taking 7.5% on incoming funds plus 7.5% on outgoing profits. That is probably around industry average for what they are doing but as it is largely web based and semi automated it could become hugely profitable.
Like others here I have been reading up about start-ups and their financing, it's more interesting than buying a lottery ticket every week. There is lots of talk about 'pivoting' your business. So if microcosm runs into sticky situations it could be pivoted into a start-up crowdfunding support system, undercut Seedrs by 50%, have software that works better, have crowd support with lots of warm fuzzy feeling, and come out as market leaders. -
I can't remember my meyers briggs label, is that because it begins with I ?
. . . . .
What about http://www.microcosm.com/aboutus.php
have you come across them? or vice versa?
The list of candidates for the LCC board of trustees includes some familiar faces who need all the support we can muster. The additional question to all candidates is interesting.
