Went for a reccy end of last week, looks like I'm going to be not in the aerobars for the first 10min :D
We've been faffing with gearing with all our riders, everyone's on something different - Rich Bussell on 58/50, me 58/44, Jess RJ 54/40, Hayley not sure yet but I think 58/xx, Vicky Smith 56/42. Should be fun, last 4km is a bit tight though and you don't want two cars going opposite way whilst you're racing.

We had a ton of different versions of these before we settled on the final one, some required individual carbon moulds for every size which would have made the price even higher (yes I know it’s high already but machining a dinner plate out of a block of very very high quality non stressed Ti is difficult, and also pretty much wrecks a cutting tool on every chainring so they’re replaced constantly).
We’ll definitely have a couple in the Olympics but have another first batch which may make it in too, will be tight though.

Not going to lie, my notifications go in a seldom read email account so I often miss stuff on here anyway :D
Domenico Pozzovivo is along with Walscheid the stars of the show from QA, we did an aero session with Pozzo the day after Tirreno finished this year and he has the lowest drag of any world tour male pro by far (forget all the hyperbole about Bisseggers road CdA, his is good but no better than others). Walscheid also had an aero session earlier in the year and we built him some special handlebars which he got last week. More to come for sure, he does a whole ton of watts and has a lot of potential for TT. Victor I’ll need to check his data as something went wrong it looks like!

More than one team running our stuff, although it’s a bit inconsistent: one team have been explicitly forbidden from riding our wheels by Shimano, even after doing their own independent testing, and they are super pissed that teams like Jumbo and INEOS are doing so. There are more behind the scenes who are in the process of finishing their testing and in negotiations with their sponsors but we’ll see what happens.

Thanks - although I was more involved in the Zephyr (our 78mm wheel) rather than the Titan 100mm. I did the calcs/scripts for the Zephyr to get it to handle like a wheel half its depth without sacrificing the aero, but Andy (head of engineering) did all the design and analysis work on the Titan along with our other flagship stuff. He's our secret weapon and heaven help us if something happens to him.

I don't think it'll affect things too much really. I saw a fun suggestion on Twitter, where someone said that forearm riding should be allowed once a solo rider had a gap of x seconds on the peloton or something, which would be an interesting take on it. It's not a mega Zwift aero boost style improvement the way most people do it (arms too low, elbows too wide) so not really going to change anything.
With the downhill position - we have seen it help especially in stages races for the odd extra second or bridging to a group ... I'm ambivalent really about whether it should or shouldn't be banned. We have tested it a fair bit in the wind tunnel and it is a lot faster than being in the drops etc.

Yes Shimano don't make a disc brake disc wheel, nor a tubeless disc wheel. Just the tubular Pro disc which is quite wide, leading another team to go third party on their bikes with narrow chainstays ...
Thanks - more to do and there are a few riders who want to do well in TTs this year, have got 5hrs of (remote) aero testing to do tomorrow morning! It was a great TT today, really exciting and I hope all the others especially the long ones in the TdF are as good too.

There was a ton of non sponsor stuff today. Some teams can get away with it quietly, others are really hampered by contracts (which is fine, if you're being sponsored then of course there is an obligation to ride what you're provided), some of the bigger players have get out clauses if they can prove their alternative is better than the sponsor provided stuff (going through that process is absolutely solid though and fraught with angst).
We're currently involved in all three of those categories - our partner team is Qhubeka Assos for aerobar accessories, but some of the riders are currently using their older ENVE extensions for example, until we finalise setups with all the riders and finish manufacturing our latest batch of extensions. Pozzovivo had an absolute blinder today, it's a pan flat course and he's half the size of everyone yet beat Bodnar, Oliveira, Foss, Bernal etc.

For masters track stuff they're not bothered about frame stickers (and seatpost you won't have a problem with) but re:bars I'd anticipate it'll be another competitor that will likely give you shit for it, not the comms noticing necessarily.
Short anecdote that contravenes the above:
UCI masters world TT in Italy in 2018, they had bike checks set up the day before the TT for everyone to put their bikes through the jigs and give yourself the rest of the day to sort it out before the real deal the following day. Most people were fine, couple of saddle adjustments etc. (my bike sailed through thank goodness), but one woman was getting real shirty with a commissaire. Stamping her feet, shouting, the lot (she was failing the 10cm vertical arm rest to top of shifter rule, using mechanical shifters which is always tricky to stay within 10cm). This went on for ages as she would have had to swap extensions to stay within the rule, then I saw the comm take a little set of calipers out his pocket, measure her Vision carbon basebar for aspect ratio, declare it wildly 3:1 illegal and told her she couldn't race with that set of aerobars anyway, lol.
My most favorite UCI bike check was a masters race in Indonesia - road bike only and I wanted to get on the podium so I wanted to make sure everything was okay with no post race dramas. Asked where the bike check was and got directed to a bored looking official standing in the corner. Tentatively gave him my bike (there was no jig or anything), he gave it a heft and declared that it was probably over 6.8kg so I was fine :D Came 2nd.

Thank you very much :) must say I'm not a fan of the 9hr wait from qualifying to finals, very stressful!
