Hey guys been riding my fixed for about 6 months and skidding A LOT. The thread stripped on one side of the hub so I flipped it over but after about another month I noticed last week that the other side is starting to go so at the moment I'm not skidding at all. I've made sure the cog and lock ring are tight.
From what I've been reading I'm getting the impression this isn't totally uncommon if you skid, but how do I stop it? Is it an inferior hub? Not sure what hub I have but the bike is a Rocky Mountain Boroughs '09 and I suspect the hub isn't the best. I'm guessing a steel hub with steel cog would be best. Has anyone tried splined hubs?
I'll stopped rambling now, if anyone's got any advice I'll be very interested to hear.
Cheers!

Don't know this has been covered yet but the rossers are watching the new pedestrian crossings on White Hall as some 'dignitaries' have reported cyclists running the lights (the riders are probably aiming for them). I got ticketed the other day so watch out, the coppers were very fair, they understood why we do it sometime, they're just doing their job.

oh really? i've read the book and heard good things about the film
better keep it unseen?
I thought the film was great, no master piece of movie making but a damn good effort and well worth a view. Only problem is my recording stopped early so I missed the last part. Anyone know if I can download is somewhere? And not iplayer I'd like to hold on to it for a while.

Someday just to highlight ojeffcot's qusetion RE CCTV footage, if there is any GET IT. I was recently a witness for the Police against a driver who knocked me over. Fortunately there was CCTV footage which corroborated my story, meaning he didn't have a leg to stand on. Don't know if you've checked yet but this is London, cameras seem to be everywhere. Good luck with the claim, hope it works out.
Gutted I couldn't make it last night, still summer's coming there'll be plenty more
