Simular question.

8 months later I still have not replaced my Cinelli Mystic pasted here.
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/127215/?offset=14150#comment14522561I want to get something track legal I can ride on the Stratford Velodrome, but will also use as a commuter in rotation with my steel frame beater for bad weather or what ever reason.
Dolan TC1 has looked like the best option for a long time,
https://www.dolan-bikes.com/dolan-track-bikes/track-bikes/track-aluminium/dolan-tc1.htmlbut I have not been completely sure about it hence the 8 months... Now I decided to go ahead and it's out of stock.
Looking around again I found some options. This "Unknown Bikes" setup looks tempting:
https://single-speed.co.uk/collections/fixed-gear-bikes/products/singularity-black?variant=39943615434Anybody know anything about the quality and reliability of these bikes?
also State Bicycle Co:
https://single-speed.co.uk/collections/fixed-gear-bikes/products/undefeated-2-photon-blue-edition?variant=28071282016340also other options on:
https://single-speed.co.uk/collections/fixed-gear-bikes/type_criterium-trackWas previously looking at either the Aventon or the Viper from BLB.
https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/aventon-mataro-fixie-single-speed-bike-white
https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/blb-viper-complete-bike-beginnerI have a £700 ride to work voucher to spend, which applies to Dolan, single-speed.co.uk, and BLB.
And I want something that is track legal, so geometry, bb height, etc are a must. I can spend a little more if I must, but want something that I will not be too worried to use for commuting etc also.
Any help advice on these or any others would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. -
7 years later. Is it still alive?
Was just looking at one of these.

@dubtap saw these at some point. Looks like good. Quick google on tacx axle nuts, found them at Halfords, and also found this.
http://www.halfords.com/cycling/turbo-trainers/trainers/tacx-blue-matic-t2650-smart-turbo-trainer
Nice deal for a smart trainer :D

Thought about rollers. Don’t want to stack it in my hallway 🤨. And from what I’ve learned from YouTube etc I thought they would not offer much resistance, more suited to warmup before racing than for training.
Doing accredited in Lee Vally in next few weeks, maybe I can have a go on rollers there at some point.
Thanks

Looking into an entry level trainer, cheap and cheerful options on amazon maybe a good place to start.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/sports/458331031However they all use a quick release, but I want to use it on fixed gear with 120mm spacing. So,
- Will it clamp on securely over the track nuts?
- Will the Axel be to short ?
Anybody using a similar trainer with a track bike? Can anybody suggest a particular (cheap and cheerful) trainer?
- Will it clamp on securely over the track nuts?

thanks @mattioats & @Jonny69 & others. Sounds like worth trying them out then. Seems like mixed reviews on the DZR's. I'm used to riding in toe clips and trainers so these might not be the stiffest shoes in the world, but will be much stiffer than what I am used to I expect.
Found the Rumble's cheap here:
https://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Giro/Rumble-VR-Mountain-Cycling-Shoes/841G£57 including shipping with code "new5" on checkout :D
(would buy in store, but didn't find any bike shops stocking them)Will leave some feedback after I get them

Anybody got any experience with Giro Rumble Vr specifically for fixed gear?
http://www.giro.com/eu_en/rumble-5.html/Have been using straps for 6 years and want to go clipless for the first time. MTB shoes, SPD cleats 100%. like the idea of more casual looking shoes when out and about.
Since these don't have any straps or buckles I'm not sure the will they be solid enough on my foot for riding fixed?
have seen lots trainer like shoes, chrome, dzr, etc. But I feel without something stronger than shoelaces over the top of my foot I will struggle to break.
Any advice appreciated.

just upgrade your chainring
Thanks,
Also look on ebay, not amazon.
Thanks, got just what I wanted on eBay, fit it and done my first commute on it today.
Many on here will advise to keep spinning rather than pushing.
They did, I posted another question about gear ratios, and everybody suggested... not to go any bigger. Rode it today. A bit less spinny, felt spot on :D

I made a post earlier today about a chainset upgrade:
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/288258/Thanks to the guys that replied, I was going about this all wrong. So I want to upgrade my chainring from 44t to 48t so I have a bit more power there but maybe a smaller back sprocket is better. It's defiantly cheaper, and easier to change.
Is this a stupid question, is there any difference in the power/drive weather I change the chainset in the front or the back?
Feels like a smaller cog on the back is harder to turn, but I guess technically the physics are the same. I know nothing about gear ratios, but the math is interesting.
44/16 = 2.75
48/16 = 3.00my current setup is 44 & 16, if I put 48 on the front, seems like 9% increase.
44/14 = 3.14 ( 15% increase )
44/12 = 3.66 ( 33% increase )Seems like changing the back cog is way more effective...
What if I change both
48/14 = 3.43 (25% increase )
48/12 = 4.00 (45% increase )Looks like If I just swap the 16t on the back to a 12, I will get a pretty good increase in power. Putting the 48 on front makes a difference of 9% which does not seem like allot.
Again, I am no expert on gear ratios, and I expect some people on here are. If I increased this by 25% for example would that be too much to manage? What I ride at them moment is just slow as hell. Should I be happy with a 10% increase?
Thanks.
Was about pull the trigger and go with the "Vitus from Wiggle", mainly the chainset and the price, which meant I could also add a pair of sidi road shoes and some cycle clothing to my basket for under the £700 mark.
Sadly got this reply from Wiggle when checking how to go a head with the cycle to work.
Back to a stat of uncertainty .
The Ribble track bike looks like a solid choice, website says it's 7.05kgs where the Vitus is 8.5 and the Geometry is just what I wanted. Just wish it came in black, should not care probably 🥴
