The french Douze exists with a step-through frame.
They say it is as stiff as the classic frame.3 versions : 40 cm, 60 cm and 80 cm (larger box).
I tried one today with a friend. Compared to my Bullit, it was slightly less sporty (still it is not a bakfiets) and a bit less stiff (again, not a soft noodle !). Corners waaaaaay better thanks to the cable direction.
A great ride. Expensive, but really great ! -
Just to be clear : this is an original Vulpine product :)
I wrote that the shape is different from the "original" because they had two models of the rain jacket :
- Original rain jacket: "sporty" model, with "butt flap", no back pocket, reflective strips on the shoulders. Not produced anymore.
- Harrington rain jacket : classier shape, no sporty details (no flap and reflective strips), different shape and a back pocket. There is still a similar product on their website, but made in Britain and much more expensive.
- Original rain jacket: "sporty" model, with "butt flap", no back pocket, reflective strips on the shoulders. Not produced anymore.

For Sale
Vulpine harrington rain jacket. New with tag ! Only tried it at home.
Size M, color "Camel"£80
Bought it on ebay, but it is too small for me :/
Smaller than the "original" rain jacket (I've got one that fits perfectly) under arms + chest.Unfortunately for you and me, I'm in France, so I'll have to post it. From here. Don't know yet how much it costs exactly, but you can expect between 10 and 15£ I guess.

I love Vulpine products, but my rain jacket doesn't protect me from rain at all (like, not AT ALL) after less than 2 years.
I've tried washing it (non organic detergent) + tumble drying it, just as Vulpine recommends... but nothing changed.
I've bought Nikwax Cotton repoofer. Did not change anything.I really love this jacket, but I stopped wearing it under the rain, which is a shame considering the pricetag and the name of the jacket :(
What about you "rain jackets" owners (mine is the "original" but the harrington is made with the same "epic cotton" fabric) ?
Didn't prevent me from buying other Vulpine stuff though ;)

"Your skinny tyres make you look fat."
I love this one :)
dimple the chain stay to clear the crank arm a bit more
As told before, I ride a similar bike (at least the spirit is), and I have the same issue : the chain stay is not dimpled at all.
It is OK with my triple athena crankset and 26t smaller cog, but there is not enough clearance for shorter BB and cranksets with lower Q factor.
Did Talbot frameworks confirmed that it won't be a problem to do it on a complete frame ? -
And you can't compare a Confrerie tire and a Grand Bois tire, it's like to compare a Michelin Dynamic and a Veloflex.
I get a pair of Grand Bois Cyprés Extra Léger 650b next week, I will give you the true weight.I've never had any Grand Bois in my hands so I can't compare them.
It might sound naïve, but what are the main differences between the Confrerie and the Grand Bois (that could explain such a strong statement ...).
BTW, it's Cyprès, not Cyprés ;)@Ed : In my experience, the Confrerie are not very puncture proof, but (again) I don't have enough experience to compare as I maybe rode about 2000 km with them and they're my first 650B tires. Only had cheap 700c stuff before...

He doesn't mention the Ambrosio Keba... because it's heavy (600 grams !) I guess but it's inexpensive, seems bombproof and has a great profile.
As told in the article, I'd be relunctant re-building a wheel with the same rim if nothing was done to solve the cracking problem. I hope yours will last more than 2k :/ -
I live in France where they are pretty easy to find online.

I wouldn't use lowriders for commuting either of course. Too wide and I don't need much space everyday.
I don't have proper photos of my bike, just this one while building it, wrong side, before any adjustement and with a cheap front bag :
http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/3387/helv.jpg
Trail is not *very *low as it's 40mm, tires are 32mm "Confrerie", light and supple but not as wide as you seem to like ;)
Geometry by myself (maybe some strange choices here ...) and building by a friend who had a workshop 10 years ago. -
This last R Jones is hot, but I'm also wondering why the hell all these bikes don't have front lowriders instead of a big boxy bag.
BTW I also own a 650B low trail rando bike (that I had to draw myself last year) and would never change it against any other geometry. It just handles perfectly front loaded (2 lowriders + front bag resting on a rack).
Good choice here. -

Hi there,
i'm trying to convert Gevenalle levers/shifters from 2x11 to 1x12.
But it seems impossible to source an original lever blade :(
(out of stock at TRP)
Does any of you have a left lever blade (black) or even an old complete lever ?
Could trade it against money.... or one new TRP hylex RS brake.
This is part 6 on this illustration from TRP
