1991 Serotta T-Max 21" emerald green frame only hole in seat-tube!

• Legendary Columbus Max OR (triple butted and very unique ovalised tubing that 'twists from vert to horizontal along the top-tube)
  
• A rusty hole in the seat-tube. Structurally the rest of the frame seems good. Cosmetically would need a re-paint.
  
• Winston Vaz at Varhona frameworks said he could source a new seat-tube and fit a year or two ago.
  
• A great resto project of a very rare frame, especially in a larger size.

Does anyone have a Shimano direct mount chainring lockring tool and a 16 notch x 41mm BB tool for a BB-MT800 (also for SM-BBR60) that I could borrow in Peckham/East Dulwich area this weekend?

However, everyone seems to harp on about how fast they roll on tarmac and mixed terrain. Do they actually mean ‘for an XC tyre they’re surprisingly fast on the road for 10% of my riding, but that’s relative to my usual chonky mtb tyre and really they’re still sluggish’?

I like the idea of a fast & supple tyre that has some tread for adventures on the weekend. Should I be looking at something else?

I need a 29x2.35 for daily commute + odd weekend gravel and/or light Epping type trails. Currently have one bike and wheelset so needs to work for a bit of everything.

I was admiring that Muddy Fox on Saturday too! I liked the o.g boxy bottle cage. The Rueben Bagel from Goodcup I was waiting for was bloody good as well. Definitely worth trying. Bit expensive mind.

Nah the whole point with that is there is no chain, obviously. So you just want to dip the special powder in the UFO drip stuff for a completely frictionless trip to wherever your mind takes you.

Don't think I'll be heating it up in an open top kettle though :s

Has anyone made their own chain wax in a bottle? Looks really easy and cheap as you just take a bit of your paraffin block (+ PTFE powder if you used it), some isopropyl alcohol and heat it inside an applicator bottle. Sounds good for longer rides and lazy maintenance and saves re-buying Squirt etc. Plus you will always have the materials on hand to make more batches in future.

Oz highly recommends adding 1.6 micron PTFE powder to paraffin at 1:10 ratio. A bag is like 10 quid so might try it. Although maybe that just gains a watt or 2 at the risk of it all washing off more easily.

Cleanliness gainz is the priority. But I don't want to be swapping waxed chains out after every wet ride. Going to start with the everyday commuter and see how it goes. Then perhaps the weekend bikepacking rig.

The product page specifies 12 speed only and I know Wolf Tooth, for example, have 12spd Hyperglide+ and 9/10/11 specific respective teeth profiles.

I imagined this must be because 12spd chains are narrower and so retention would be an issue with wider chains? Happy to be told otherwise?!

Garbaruk and Wolf Tooth both offer 9/10/11 specific chainrings but with 3mm Boost offset (52mm chainline) only.

Assuming I can use a 10spd chain on the 12spd specific tooth profile... Am I right in understanding that the above Garbaruk 'Custom offset' chainring with 5.9mm offset will give me around a 49.1mm chainline... which is 0.1mm off the optimal non-Boost 1x chainline of 49mm?

This guy recommends adding some paraffin oil to your homebrew wax when riding in wet conditions or mtb to prevent corrosion. He does precede this by saying the oil will attract dirt... soooo basically... is there a point in all that faff? lolz

Is there a direct mount chainring with the right offset / other solution out there that will allow me to fit a Shimano M7100 Boost crank on a 135mm Non-Boost frame, running 10-speed Saint RD, with a workable chainline?

If I understand correctly this Garbaruk chainring with'CUSTOM offset' variable chainline (34-36T) and offset 5.9mm would bring it close enough inboard.. except its 12 spd HG+ only so wouldn't fit a 10spd chain!

Generally you would need a 135mm hub with SRAM XD driver body, instead of the old standard HG 8,9,10 speed freebub, to run most of their 12 speed cassettes. Hope hubs can fit XD as well as DT Swiss 350 etc.

An easier option would be the Sram PG-1210 NX 12 Spd cassette which is designed to fit on the standard 8,9,10 Spd splined freehubs you will find on most 26" wheels.

Sunrace also make the MZ90 10-50t cassette which will do the same thing.
