Norwich AlleyCat. Sunday 29th of December.
The start point will be outside of the Forum at 12 O'clock and it will finish at the Red Lion Bishopgate
This one will be a little bit special as it will comprise of two parts. The first being the Treasure Hunt using the 10 clues to solve, 8 unmanned checkpoints to pass through and the 2 simple tasks to complete format that we have been using for almost 2 years now.
However, there will be an optional second part to this AlleyCat, which will be a timed Navigational Challenge passing through another 10 unmanned control points dotted about the city. This will start and finish at the Red Lion Bishopgate, and you may only take part in the 2nd part if you have completed the first part.
Just so that there is no misunderstanding, there will be a total of 18 unmanned checkpoint punches located about the city. 8 for the treasure hunt part of the AlleyCat, and another 10 checkpoint punches at different locations for the navigational challenge. The 8 Treasure Hunt and 10 Navigational Challenge checkpoint punches will not share any of the same locations, although it is possible (highly likely!) that you might cycle short sections of, and cross your previous route several times.
The Treasure Hunt is £1 per person, and the Navigational Challenge is £1 per person.
Those transporting their bicycles to Norwich by car will be allowed to park free of charge in the Red Lion's car park (accessed by road from Bishopgate only) for the day, but you will have to display an AlleyCat parking pass obtained from the bar in the windscreen of your car. There will be Sunday carvery available from the bar all afternoon until about 5pm at £7.95 per head, along with the usual crisps, nuts, scratching's and pickled egg snacks etc. Tea and Coffee will also be available to purchase. http://redlionnorwich.com/

With changes in personal circumstances, job changes, and relocations, etc . only a couple of us are now available, so it would be nice start up playing polo one evening each week again now that spring is here with one, two or few new local faces.
Equipment is no problem as I have spare mallets and balls etc, and one spare polo hack for loan.
If you are interested in having a knock about can you contact me: cargo-cycles@live.co.uk or 07758 786036

I have posted all the information and relevent files & photos on the www.instructables.com website, and it is available to download (for free) from there as a PDF document:

We were in the pub until well gone 4pm.
4 lads in their early 20's called team awesome were the first ones to hand in a correctly completed sheet.
Which clues did you struggle with?
I have postedd the photo solutions to the clues on the norwich AlleyCat face book page, and also here; http://overthegate.myfreeforum.org/about24920 but you'll have to scroll to the bottom 1/4 of the page because all the photos of the previous 3 alleycats i've organised are also post there

Are any of you guys interested in competing in a point-to-point style Bicycle time trial?
Basically, you are given a printed set of way point locations that you have to visit as you navigate your way across the city in the fastest possible time.
There will be a Silva orienteering card punch at each location for you to use as proof of passage. http://www.aboveandbeyond.co.uk/.Silva-Control-Punches-B-Box-of-10-_7318860117183.htm
This event will start at 2pm on Wednesday 28th of December from the Woolie public house in Muspole street, and it will finish there. The rider who turns in a fully punched sheet in the fastest time will be the winner.
The Norwich AlleyCat treasure hunt starts at the forum at 11am and will be finishing at the Woolie, so there is a possibility of you riding in both events.
If you are interested please let me know, so that I have some idea the numbers of those wanting to compete, and I will organise this point-to-point, and set out a route, etc.

Here in Norwich we use the open to all comers bicycle treasure hunt format for AlleyCats: although I am trying to organise Point-to-point sprints for the more competitive amongst us.
If you take a look at the photo albums on our facebook page you can see most of the solutions to the clues that we've used in the last 3 months.
The clue questions have been typed out below the photos answers.

***P.S. I am also trying to put together an individual, orienteering style point-to-point timed sprint. N.B. navigating between given points throughout the city rather than solving clues, and using orienteering card punches placed at the waypoints as proof of passage ..... is any one interested in competing in this? ***
If so, please let me know, and if there is enough interest I can set this event up as well.
***We could possibly start this event after the AlleyCat from the Woolie at say 2pm. ***

It is my intention to continue running one AlleyCat each month, and we have seemed to have settled on the last Wednesday of the month.
Currently I am putting together the December one, and this will be held on the 28th, and will be conducted in daylight, with an 11am start. I am also trying to put together an individual timed Point-to-point sprint. No clues; just destinations and the riders leaving the start at 2 or 3 minute intervals, with Orienteering card punches at each way point to confirm passage .... fastest time wins.
I am also working on a pedal powered Scalextric/slot car racing circuit (I'll find some way of replacing the cars with model bicycles), that can be used if bad weather restricts an AlleyCat, so we can at least have a little bit of social fun in a bar/cafe instead. I am building a couple of fold away flat for storage recumbent style frames for the competitors to sit on when racing and rather than having triggers to control the speed of cars/bikes this will done be through Sturmey Archer 3 speed dynamo IG hubs.
