Back home, man that was tiring.
Swinley mud was slippy, but James and I found out that 25 psi (in his case 20 on the front) gives awesome grip regardless. Go tubeless!
No really bad crashes this time, but a few minor/funny ones.
I need new brake pads, checked them when the mud was washed off and I have about 1mm or less pad material left. Lasted since last september (3 months off in the summer though), so not so bad.
After my move is sorted out i'll see if I can invite a bunch of you up to sample the trails around hereford.

[URL="http://connect.garmin.com/player/54220326"][/URL]I was just resting, damnit.
More seriously it's a reet fucker to get out from under an upside down bike when you're on a downslope...
Definitely up for next weekend. Last chance before I move (probably).

That was indeed awesome.
Pity I almost blew up half way through, time to try and get on the cardio hard on the commute, methinks.
James, the jump gully was the one you're thinking about (according to phone map, at least).
Looks like I'm utterly free next weekend, so definitely up for something again.

The plan was to get to Bracknell, ride to the lookout, grab a cuppa and permits (2 quid for the day, 15 till the end of march) then go explore.
Later is fine with me, i hate mornings. Pick one:
09:52 Ealing Broadway [EAL] Bracknell [BCE] 11:11 1h 19m
10:24 Ealing Broadway [EAL] Bracknell [BCE] 11:41 1h 17m
10:50 Ealing Broadway [EAL] Bracknell [BCE] 12:11 1h 21m
11:24 Ealing Broadway [EAL] Bracknell [BCE] 12:41 1h 17mOr indeed later in a very similar pattern

I was looking at these at the Cycle Show:
http://www.lakecycling.com/mountain-winter-c-1_4_11.htmlWay over the top, but totally look like they'd last 3 or 4 winters which makes them not as bad cost-wise.
Apparently Half Pipe near Notting Hill does them or can order them in. http://www.half-pipe.co.uk/
They're available in wide fit for the bigger sizes too (not necessary for me, but seemed good that they cater for different sizes).
Got a pair of these last winter when it was bitter. Some of the best money I ever spent, just need to take care that you don't do the BOA lacing up too tight because then it can dig in (at least on my odd-shaped feet :).
Those, pair of merino socks, comfy feet all winter.

Either from Waterloo direct to Bracknell at 09 and 39 past every hour (Journey time 1h2m). Or from Paddington changing at reading at 03 and 37 past the hour (Journey time 1h8m).
Personally, Paddington is more useful for me (I'd be joining at Ealing Broadway), but I figure that Waterloo would suit others more.

So who's for something this weekend?
I was considering either dorking (be good to go back) or Swinley Forest (near bracknell) since I've never been. Any opinions?
Oh, DJ: You may also want to look at the rockshox reverb (out soonish) if you go down the adjustable seatpost route, it looks pretty promising. I hate the seatpost shuffle myself, generally I leave it full height then drop it only for the really nasty stuff. Narrower saddle will almost certainly help s'long as it is still comfy enough for putting the miles in.

Hey guys, looks like I've missed out on some fun.
Fooking cold over in hereford right now. Been snow on the ground for the last two weeks. Still looking for the best trails, found a few things I can get to every day, but nothing spectacular yet. OTOH, if i don't mind 10-15 miles to get there then the Black Mountains on the weekend look entirely doable. Was up there hiking with friends last weekend and in parts the snow was knee height. Looks like I'll be waiting for the thaw ;).
Possibly up for something in the midlands if I can get over though.
Oh, and btw I personally found tubeless (Stans crest rims, UST high rollers and sealant) to be a nice advantage, mostly because I can run 20-25psi with no issues.
