You can still get screw in rubber hoods that telescope out and fold back quite small. That may be your best bet.

The Sony APS-C lacks good lenses. Some are soft. Others are heavy. The cameras are quite expensive as well. The Fuji is a much better bet if you are sticking with APS-C. But there is no substitute for full-frame.

Let us know how you find the 16-55. I find it too big on an X-T20, with no real benefit over the 18-55/2.8-4. And without OIS, which I need on the X-T20.

I know life advice is off-topic, but I advise you not to go into debt. Get a freecycle bike or bits for now and put up with it until you have the money you need. If you have time just spend it on the forum. Everything is available here in the end for reasonable prices.

I do that too. I have no problem with a server running 24 hours a day, but it is easy to switch things off, so I do.

By standby I mean any power state where the power supply is partially on and providing standby power to the motherboard. Anything where there isn't a proper switch in the off state.

If you have any sort of soft power button then there has to be a source of power for it. So the power supply has a standby power circuit that is running all the time just for this purpose. It can also power the keyboard and the network card. As I said was surprised that my power supply got warm in this state. I'm sure that things are better now with energy regulations. Still, it's easy enough to have a power strip with a big red switch on the desk. It powers up my monitors, amplifier, powered USB hub, etc. as well.

I stopped leaving PCs on standby when I felt the back of an ATX power supply and found it warm.

The setting you want mentions power fail. I’ve used it on many different PCs. You should be able to get it working. I can post a screenshot if you want.

I configure the BIOS to power on the machine when power is applied. Then I turn it on at the plug. I have an extension lead on the desk for this purpose. Then I turn off completely once the machine is shutdown. That way it's not sitting on standby getting warm.

Get a normal body, a D810 or 5DSR, and add a battery grip. Works really well.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, have you looked at the Sony A6000? It has issues, but it is cheap and the three Sigma prime lenses for it are excellent value.

Many years ago I there was a chap on TV (I think it was the programme "Natiowide") with a "bicycle" capable of carrying sofas. I think it had four wheels. I'm looking for the two bits in the image.

1) Something to attach a cable to the threaded rod that changes the gears. It doesn't have to be adjustable, just something to make a neat join.

2) Something to attach a cable safely to the brake arm. The arm is single thickness unlike a Sturmey-Archer one so the attachment is a U of metal with a pin through it that locates in a notch on the arm.

I'm looking for the parts or bright ideas.
