You can get chemical paint stripper, strip the sucker down (you'll also need sand paper and possibly a drill with a sanding attachment to get it all off)
then a can of primer (at least!) to give it a good base coat
then 2-4 cans of colour
then a can of clearcoat
plenty of space, plenty of light (to see how even your coats are) plenty of patience and somewhere dust/flys aren't going to get at it while it drys
I'm sure others will disagree, but I found it a royal pain in the ass :P
(all this only applys to rattle-canning it)

Unless the frame is something special, it's probably not worth re-spraying tbh.
I did one once, really wasn't worth the cost and the end result was pretty disappointing - getting it done professionally seemed even more expensive, and generally not worth it either...
(I fully expect you to ignore all this and re-spray it anyway ;P)

No, no this is designed for London, can't you read? Outside of London it's just like any other bike, you know, only as quick as the person riding it.
Damn these designers, not considering that smaller, less profitable market outside of London, then having the audacity to post on predominantly London-centric forum about their products. HOW DARE THEY?

This is somewhat anecdotal, but I ran on a pair of rusted up bars (surface rust) that I picked up from a recycling center for a quid - then cut down to size - for months without any problems.
They're off the bike now, but when I removed them they showed no cracking or additional flex in them, confident they'd be fine for many more miles.
Edit: They were steel bars.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/kitten-block/
The Daily Mail and Daily Express are popular UK tabloid newspapers:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Express
When using the internet in the UK it's almost impossible to avoid occasionally accessing the website of one or the other, even if one finds their political and social outlook unpleasant or offensive.KittenBlock is designed to solve this problem. It performs one simple function: if the browser is directed to either website it will be redirected instead to a selection of photos from http://www.teaandkittens.co.uk.
Enjoy :-)

Also, you know that every time the Daily Fail posts an article like this, it goes viral amongst the community they've offended, we then all click the link, they get the advertising revenue.
I strongly suspect that if everyone stops visiting their website their entire business model will fail and it'll cease to be published....
I can dream right?

Tough to know where to stand on this, but as it doesn't say on the site that colours may vary then perhaps there's a trade descriptions issue?
The Trade Descriptions Act 1968 makes it an offence for a trader to apply, by any means, false or misleading statements, or to knowingly or recklessly make such statements about goods and services.

@kboy that's why I'm learning, my girlfriend's mother made me the best woolen hat I've ever owned (and strangely enough she also knitted the only dish cloths I've ever used that actually work)
My girlfriend promised she'd learn along with me... I'll be sorted for scarves and hats next winter!

Have a scan through ebay/craigslist etc to see roughly what they are selling for...
Also, I noticed you'd said you were registered disabled (sorry if this comes across wrong) but if you can ride it once it's been converted to fixed, I'd be tempted to convert it anyways - the thrill of riding a fixie you built/converted yourself is probably worth it ;-)

First thing to check is if it has horizontal dropouts
Edit: I also wholeheartedly approve of tinkering with bikes as sanity-saving method.

We have a few of these kicking about town...
A few have broken locks and look a bit banged up.. but I'd say this is more down to lack of maintenance or regular checks on them rather than a design fail.
If they're put somewhere visible, I think they'd be ok.
