Black Rainbow, that’s not much of a wager! Considering that at least 99% of cyclists ride bikes WITH brakes, it is no surprise that they as a group are more likely to be involved in accidents (from whatever cause) than the brake-less minority. If you are seriously suggesting that it is as safe to ride without brakes as it is with, then perhaps you are also a member of the flat-earth society – see thread below.

It is interesting that you want to get views from the fixed-gear community, but it might have been more relevant to try and speak to riders of fixed-gear bikes without a front brake. These riders may be only a small percentage of the fixed-gear community, but they are the ones who get a negative press for all of us. Hopefully, since the Alliston case there will be very few of them.

Excuse me if I have presumed to speak for all of us in condemning those who choose to ride without brakes, I simply assumed (perhaps wrongly) that we are all rational human beings
