It's a shocking week.
All our hopes and wishes are for Dan's survival. Condolences for the friends and family of biker at QM.
I used to live on that corner in Dalston, it's always been nasty there.
The Gazette@gobby_wench Hmmm...
Your point about it being an open public forum rather misses the point - the point is that people here are talking to people they know care, as oppose to the press directly. Yes, it is a semi-public forum where anyone can (and do) lurk, but most of us on here know to have a bit of sensitivity about these things when we know that people and their loved ones are hurting (as oppose to say writing about it on an advert-laden blog in an attempt to bump up visits and revenue)
Of course, as someone above pointed out, a real journalist with formal training and a career reputation to uphold would never indulge in such ghoulish behaviour, unlike what has been done at the Hackney Hives but that's the domain of the tinternet 'writers' for you I guess...
Anyway, let's not derail the thread - it is here for sharing thoughts and best wishes to the injured and his loved ones.
Tuff. It is what it is. Cyclists blaming everyone and a pack mentality. It's also what the Brits do best..... whinge whine whinge. Get over yourselves.
Be grateful it's not phone hacking eh?
;)
I wish Dan a speedy recovery

Glad to see a thread has been started....I guess the link below is old news news. Doing a good job so far. I guess register register register is the operative word.

Small consolation, but it's something, especially thoughts of installing CCTV. http://www.hackneyhive.co.uk/index/2010/09/two-arrested-in-connection-with-bike-attacks-in-de-beauvoir/

I am unable to start a thread, so one of y'all may want to use it to start it's own thread. Cyclist being treated for head injuries after crash in Mile End. http://tinyurl.com/36agzmf

that junction is a little confusing - the way navarro road is one way in two different directions from the junction, with contraflow cycle lanes on different sides of the road. and in latvia they drive on the right. if she was used to driving/cycling there, and only came here in june, and had just started cycling here, i suspect it was just enough contradictory information to let her look left, out of habit, rather than right, at the junction.. hope she pulls through...
Spot on.

The Hackney Hive need to brush up their editorial standards. Starting a story about an RTA with "Yet another cyclist has been knocked down" is horrible, and totally unrepresentative of cycling in general. Whilst of course its awful when cyclists get hurt on the roads and it does happen too often, it is still far from being a common occurrence when you compare volume of cyclists against accidents. You wouldn't write a story about a car crash with "Yet another driver has crashed"
Also "collided with" is different to "in a collision with" in my eyes - the later not inferring blame to the cyclist and therefore more preferable. Maybe it's just syntax but this gets me every time.
Let's hope this lady cyclist pulls through and does well.
I hope you don't mind me starting my post with:
**WTF dude**? Do something about your paranoia and anger. This unfortunate woman has been pronounced dead by others on **this site**, yet you are worried about a post on Hackney Hive beginning with "Yet another cyclist". Is it any wonder some non-cyclists feel the way they do about cyclists?
The world does not revolve around you.
Have a supadupa weekend and be safe out there.
Are you for real?
