i'd like to see how/if you've built yours if you've got pics. I'm just embarking on it myself.
going with mafac brakesWow, your Olympic is super nice! Colour me jealous. I actually bought mine off Lightbluejosh on the forum about this time last year and have slooooowwwwlllly been building it up when I have the spare time and cash. I'm at work now so don't have a pikkie on me, but here is a link to his build and a list of the parts I've bought below:

70293 here, i thought the year was first two digits
hilary's got some for sale with the flat qr on the calipers
Hey. Just found this on the web which seems to explain the difference in numbers:
"Mercian frame numbers include the year of manufacture, but where the year appears in the sequence has varied over time. From the 1970s through 1999, the year is the last two digits of the frame number. After 1999, the last four digits are the year of manufacture. For at least part of the 1950s, the first two digits indicate the year, but this pattern was not followed consistently."
Speak to Hilary Stone...
I've checked his website and I was hoping for something a little cheaper.

@ExTra If you don't mind, a photo would be good.

ExTra - the bars look good but I think 40 may be too small as I'm building a single speed and was thinking of having the break levers in the centre and don't want my hands resting on the curve. But to be honest, this is only a worry as I haven't tested this setup so let me know if you think that just wouldn't be a problem.
Fyodor - Any chance I could get a picture?

Hey
I’ve just joined the forum and was lucky enough to get first dibs on this really nice Claud Butler frame yesterday. Anyway, as I’m new here I’m not exactly sure how the buying process should have played out so I wanted to get some feedback on what’s happened.
Okay, so after I said I wanted the frame, Seth81 contacted me and we exchanged e-mails trying to sort out a good time for me to buy. As I live in Brighton I said I could pick it up on Saturday afternoon. At which point he asked me if I would pay him the full amount via Paypal to secure it. I wasn’t exactly sure if this was normal (is it?) and as a result I offered to pay him half the cost as a compromise.
After waiting nearly a day for a response he got back to me saying that he’d wait til Saturday but he didn’t give me any Paypal instructions. A couple of hours later I received an e-mail asking if I’d also buy a seatpost from him along with the frame. I thanked him for the offer but said I was happy with just the frame.
A couple of hours after that I get another email saying he’s gonna offer the frame to the second dibber as he’ll buy the seatpost and he lives in London. I obviously replied saying that if I have to buy the seatpost because it’s a dealbreaker then I will as I really like the frame.
Anyway, he’s just got back to me saying that the deals off.
Sooooooooooo...I basically just wanted to put the feelers out and see if this kinda behaviour is typical or whether I just got unlucky as there is generally a forum etiquette when it comes to buying/selling? If so it would be good to know for future dealings.
Thanks in advance.
Have sent you a PM.
