For a while now I have heard that silica compound tyres are rubbish for indoor velodromes. I have seen a very short list of Manchester approved tubs and tyres, including the tempo and sonderklasse but excluding the conti clinchers and the sprinter and competition. Looking at the conti website, it seems that for their non coloured high end tubs and tyres they are getting away from the asc rubber (activated silica compound) and switching it all to black chili rubber. I see a lot of marketing babble, but no confirmation from conti that they are ditching the silica and going back to regular carbon black rubber.
My questions
is black chili just carbon black rubber?
If so will use of sprinters, competitions, and supersonics be approved on uk indoor velodromes?
For a mix of indoor and outdoor can one be a cheapskate and buy sprinters? Thanks for any help.

Cotic branded 32 hole 6 bolt hub laced to an old DT swiss 465 road rim. 140mm TRP rotor. Not as nice as the tubular wheelset, but if anyone wants the bike and both wheelsets I will listen to offers.

Might take the Time RXS pedals off you if you still have them from sunday on (am down in LDN then). I guess they are the boggo plastic ones?
White set is reasonably new racers, black set are heavily used carbons.
I also have more pictures up on the same photo stream of some of the Dura Ace bits and cranks.

Update:
I had been asking £1000 but no one was interested, so I have swapped the tubular wheelset out for some clinchers and dropped the price. The other change is that the TRP brakes installed on the bike have been recalled. I am looking to sell the bike for £800 if the buyer wants it as is with clinchers and TRP brakes, or I would sell the bike for £940 with clinchers and a NIB black hope V-twin cable to hydro setup. The buyer would be responsible for returning the brakes to tektro and waiting for replacements, or installing the Hope hydraulic setup.

Halo 29r rims with the decals removed.

I could also throw in some 160mm or 140mm rotors for an extra £20. -

For Sale: 58 CM Genesis Fugio complete bike. I bought it on a whim this autumn, and did three races before picking up a hamstring tear and loosing the will. Plan was to build it up cheap and pick up a 10 speed hydro setup from Sram for next year. I am now leaving London and need to clear out some stuff. The frame is in great shape aside from the cable rub and marks one would expect from a cx frame after some muddy races. When I got the frame I carefully drilled two drain holes in the BB shell and faced the headtube before installing the headset. Some of the parts are used but much of it (the front wheel, both tubs, front mech, cassette and chain) only saw a few rides.

It won't work because the threads are different sizes
It wasn't fine, you just got away with it
ftfy
To clarify: I never said that one should fit a shimano lockring to a mavic hub, merely that it was possible (though highly inadvisable) to thread it on. Many people incorrectly assume that it must be ok if it threads on. I thought it worthwhile to politely inform a previous poster of this without calling anyone an idiot.

I have wanted a set of 303s for cross ever since watching this:
Zipp 303 Impact Testing - YouTube
They had a cut-away view of the rim on a pezcycling review a while back, amazing how thin the sidewall gets. It would be interesting to see a cut-away of one of the cheapies if anyone here ever scraps one. They first link has good pictures of firecrest and old 303s, the second has some Zipp tech stuff halfway down.

I bought this a couple months back when I injured my shoulder and couldn't cycle. I used it half a dozen times, it does everything a trainer should, but I lack the willpower to stay on it. It works fine with 15mm tracknuts and they include a basic steel skewer to avoid scratching fancy qr skewers.
picture and spec are the same as:

I like the double sided Hozan hook spanner. One side fits most track lockrings, and the other is perfect for larger outer diameter lockrings (Phil wood and some others) The hook bit is at a different position/angle on each side so you can get good purchase on any BB or track lockring without mashing up the notch.
C-205 Dual radius.. These guys have them for £21

What would be the market rate for NOS shimano 600 BB-6400 spindles? (113mm for 68 shell) I also have matching BB cups and lockrings, but only in 35x1.
