as for the bar tape, i dunno, it was in the box of spares. and the singe only has a front as the back brake mount was damaged, so i cut it off, and the raleigh is gonna be fixed so i dont need a rear but would like one for emergencys.
and freewheel bikes dont need 2 brakes, my bmx has never had 2, infact its lucky it had on at all most of the time.

hey guys, been lurking for a while, thought i better post.

since i became unemployed last year i was using my BMX (DK General Lee) to get everywhere, but doing 30+ miles standing on a bmx ruins your elbows, so i built a really crap, go anywhere single speed out of bits i found...

i loved this so much that i decied to build a nicer fixed gear (on a very strict budget)

so picked up a 80s Raleigh record (sprint? not sure as it had no decals) frame and a box of spares for £20

and built this so far.. and yes i killed a puppy? or did i as it was crap anyway?

it currently still has the rear cog set as its stripped inside and i couldnt get it off for love nor money, so i may sell some of the spares i didnt use (4 stems, some drops, risers, saddles, clips etc) to fund a new wheel build.

the spec at the mo (remembering it cost £20) is

-Frame and Fork - Raleigh Record
-Saddle and Seatpost - Unknown hard as thing with QR
-Stem - ITM quill
-Bars - SR sakae custom road champ (the ones with the gold bit)
-Brake - gold, not sure tbh with unknown leaver (i have wienmann ones, do i swap?)
-cranks - Sugino GT and 52t chainwheel (not gold)
-Pedals - unknown german (will get retention when i go fixed)
-Chain - KMC High Power
-Wheels -Weinmann 700c
-Front Tyre - WTB All Terrain (i like treaded front/slick rear from my BMXing Days)
-Rear Tyre - Michelin Transworld City

once its fixed i will strip it down and powder coat/paint, but for now im loving riding a real bike.

when i lived in kent i didnt live the A2 at all, going through towns and villages is much nicer and if you plan well, takes no longer.

random question, but ny G/F is just about to apply for this, does she have to get an OTS bike or can she get parts for me to build her something special?

I managed to get the G/f to come out for a ride yesterday, only did 20ish miles at slow speeds, but had a loverly picnic.

I think like Everyone, I rode with a Broken Collar Bone. wasnt that bad. healed properly withing 3 weeks.
