Hi guys,
I'm looking for some bits and pieces, very grateful if any of you had some lying around.I will consider most M8 crank bolts, but I would be delighted if you had anything campy. Dust covers the same.
I also need some silver M5 bolts for bottle cage mounts, 6 would be good- I'm sure some of you have them lying around...
Thanks

A Claud Butler of that vintage will have been built for 27" (ETRTO 630) wheels with 1.25" tyres and mudguard clearance, so probably 63mm or so brake drop to the original wheels. If you swap to a modern 700c (ETRTO 622) fork made for short reach brakes, say about 43mm, you're cutting something like 24mm off the axle to crown length of the fork, which means your top tube will slope down noticeably once the bike is built up, and the head and seat angles will be steepened by about 1.5deg. Aesthetically, you will also have a significant mismatch in clearances front to rear. In short, keep the stock fork and invest in one of Tektro's lovely long reach brakes. You'll even be able to use decent sized tyres and mudguards, which will make winter a much more pleasant experience.
I was hoping that wouldn't be much of an issue. Anyway, I will keep the original forks for the moment. Then I will see once the wheels arrive. If there is a problem, I will use the original forks instead, and get some long reach brakes.

I am building my first fixie(I did have a langster framed fixie, but I bought that second hand off some guy), and I thought I would make a project log. I see a lot of amazing builds on here, but very little in the way of build logs etc?.
It helps me keep track of what I'm doing, and hopefully, I can get some advice from you guys in the process...correct my inevitable rookie blunders (without too much abuse :P)
Anyway, here goes:First, I bought a vintage Claud Butler road frame off fleabay...
I think it's from 1967, but its in decent shape, paintwork a bit crappy, but I'm gonna get it powdercoated anywayI decided I didn't need the pump holders, so out comes the hacksaw, files and sandpaper...
Result. I don't think it's too bad- once its painted, it won't be noticeable.
I did the same on the front one...Since armourtex don't do transfers, I thought I'd make my own...I haven't really decided how yet, but either I will paint with modelling paint etc by hand or maybe get some vinyl cut on a computer.
Anyway, I had to make copies of the decals first...
I had to fill in the bits that were damaged with a marker pen, but I think I did ok. Will decide on what exactly to do with the copy later...I've also bought some stuff:
Dura Ace track sprocket 15t
Halo aerorage wheelset
Campagnolo Record Strada 42t Crankset (from Freezing77, hopefully collect today)
Cinelli 40cm Bars (Freezing77 as well)
KMC Kool 1/8" BMX Chain
A pair of nice road forks (the Claud Butler frame came with some, but they had a ridiculous brake drop, might sell them on)
Charge spoon saddleStill to buy:
Cinelli stem
Bottom Bracket- I'm not sure what size to get...
Threaded headset
Bar tape
Pedals
Seatpost
And probs some other bits and pieces I've forgotten about...Anyone sees these in classified/ebay, please gimme a shout.
That's it for now, I'll post more when there's progress on the project...
Over and out
