Thanks for all this info - been looking to do exactly the same thing. If it helps, I've gone online to Selectspecs. Oakley Trajectorys, with basic single vision prescription lens, with green Transitions tint - £200. They seem to have a large range of Oakleys, but as Retro said, don't do Sutros with prescriptions.

Been looking for a half decent but not too expensive rain jacket, and stumbled across the Chrome Storm jacket for £43 on a site I've never seen before. The price seems to good to be true, as do the prices for the other Chrome products on there. Just wondered if anybody had used these guys before and whether it's worth a punt: http://www.swonderfulmusic.co.uk/chrome-sc-89_364.html

I don't name my bikes.....but my daughters have taken to calling them non-gender specific names. There's "Bananas" ....cos it's yellow; "Dutchy"......cos it looks like the bikes we used to hire when we would go on holiday to Holland; and most interestingly, "The Boring One"......cos to them that's the one I go out on for hours on my own or spend too much time in the garage tinkering with.

Struck dumb by police in an unmarked car this morning. Guildford Road, nr Stockwell - quiet residential road, one-way for cars, two way for cyclists. I'm pootling along, car coming towards me, parked cars on either side (so quite tight), so politely I pull over into a space and wave the car through. He crawls past, winds down the window and says "what's your problem?". (It's now that I see that it's a couple of policemen in the car). I say:
"Nothing, just waving you through".
Plod: "It's a one-way street"
Me: "Two way for cyclists"
Plod: "No, it's a one-way street", and drives off.
I'm a bit miffed as I've been doing this route for ages. So I turn round and cycle after him, get to the road where there is clearly a sign for bikes and a segregated part of the junction. Tap on the window:
Me: "See, it's a two way for bikes"
Plod: "Well, I'm not a cyclist am i" and drives off.
Behind him was another unmarked police car with a police woman laughing her head off!
I spent most of the rest of the commute thinking of all the witty replies I should have used......and promptly failed to unclip! -
Really looking forward to this!! Loving all the Words of JahTim too! I'm a long time lurker who's only posted twice (i think), and never been to any Drinks or on any Forum rides, so breaking my duck big time, hoping to put some faces to names, and have a cracking time. God dammit, I may even do it fixed!

It's difficult to believe that only yesterday the news was full of stories about tipper trucks at peak times and the Bank junction bike demonstration, which obviously meant nothing to the guy on Lambeth Bridge this morning. Tipper truck going north, reaching the zebra crossing at the end, slows to a stop. I'm in the cycle lane on the inside, so also stop behind him so I can see the driver in his mirror and so not in his blind spot (yes bruv, cycle training it work good!). Guy on a hybrid behind me shouts "what you waiting for!" at me, skittles past me, down the inside on the truck which is just pulling off. He makes it past (more out of luck than skill) flies into the roundabout and does a right, and nearly gets t-boned by a car that is going straight into Horseferry Road. Cue lots of horn firing and shouting. I rode past feeling safe, a little smug, and thinking "why is he wearing a hoodie in this weather?"

Hi Brooklynites - I don't actually have a BMW (mores the pity!), but I was in the Uniqlo shop yesterday and saw they were selling limited edition t-shirts: http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/clothing/uq/ut/brooklynmachineworks/. Look nice, for all those who want to "represent"!

Ms Danialdo just rang me up saying she'd just seen some guy in GB lycra riding a Pinarello on the pavement down the Kingsway. She said she tutted loudly at him and he told her to eff off. I told her "I'd call him out".....she said "what? Is that it?! Next time I'm gonna drop him". Teachers eh bless em!

Hi Everyone
Long time lurker (we're talking years), but finally have a smart enough phone that has web access (yeah I know, but I iz old!), and an employer who has PCs which does not block forum use (yeah I know, but they are old!). Been riding for years, currently on a Schwinn Madison, but also have a Boardman road bike and variousl other things with two wheels which come under the geneal description of bicycles. Generally seen around South London - especially Crystal Palace/Brixton areas and around Fitzrovia when at work. Over time I have been "spotted" twice - once when having a cheeky fag, and once when running a red, I try not to do either nowadays! Great forum, been so helpful already....and made me chuckle like a tax evader, gawd bless you all! See ya around, I normally ride with a smile! -
Pipped at the post!! Thought I had it nailed until the last two days!! Good work Henry!!!
