Sweet wheelset. These rims are scary light. They came in three versions 200 (!), 230 and 280 grams.

Exactly right, and since it's the odd part of an otherwise complete 600 group I'd swap it for a Shimano 600 derailleur and stick the campagnolo on ebay (will fetch about 100£ on its own). Nice bike, though, in a horrible sort of way.

The seattube also has an Oria sticker. But since it 'undoubtedly' is Columbus Air these were probably put there just because Oria is so much cooler than Columbus...

I'm looking for some 1980s C-record road hubs for freewheel, preferably 32 hole but others considered, too. No other hubs will do, have to be the ones pictured.

What's the use of the allen screw on the end of the top tube? Adding a bottle cage?

That screw is only to facilitate installing of the bars, it does not affect how tight the bars fit.

Shimano's 6400 headset from the same era (600/Ultegra) should have a stack height of 33.5 mm.

Are you sure that you had everything installed properly (fork crown race slammed to the bottom etc.)? Is there exessive paint on some of the surfaces? This might be the case with a NOS frame.

Mercian's frame numbering is really quite simple, frame number 39866 means no 398 from 1966. It probably also has a single digit on the other side of the bb that tells you who built it. Nice frame.

Well it says 'New tubulars (road) not glued' in the ad, so if that's the case just glue them and ride them hard.

If you want to run clinchers rebuilding is the only way. If you ride only track, I'd keep the tubs, but for streets I'd rebuild.

I'm not sure if this is a good buy or not, 'cos I don't know the tubing, but it looks in very good & clean condition.

Columbus Cromor is good tubing. I think it's a very good price. Unfortunately ten cm's bigger than what I'm looking for atm.

Don't know. Hilary Stone's got a front to match that for sale at the moment. Maybe they just seem rarer than sheriff stars because people don't take as many pics of them...

It's a Victory hub. Not quite C-rec but pretty rare.

body is non magnetic but has the machined look of steel in dull Ti style colours. did they build any levers with Ti bodies? is it just dull allu ?

Those are Athena levers. Body is some sort of plastic. You can find more info on Velobase.
