It looks like they are not using power:weight in the way that cycling performance professionals would. In our performance lab, we quote max minute aerobic power:body mass(kg). If this is what they are talking about, then yes, it is low for 'conditioned' cyclists.
Sounds like they are talking about holding 190-225 watts for a 75 kg rider working out to 30-33 kmph. Maintaining the ratio for heavier (need to push more watts) or lighter (push less watts) riders means it is the same speed for everyone but I guess you don't sound super technical and cool if you just quote speed nor can you justify your SRM cranks for a 40 min club ride. 30-33 kmph = not that fast riding as a group.

Emergency stop didn't work today...
Just had a pedestrian walk out in front of me after rounding the left hand corner at the bottom of Pentonville road. The light was green and there is no pedestrian crossing there. She walked out a bit, stopped then decided that she could get passed last minute, by which time I was already braking, but there wasn't enough time to stop. She got up shrieking and walked off leaving me to pick myself up off the road.
I should probably also point out that she was on her phone as well...

I had someone nearly give themselves a coronary trying to keep up with me. something he only achieved because we hit every 3rd set of lights and I was slowing well in advance of the lights to try and hit them on the change. every time I unclipped and got a foot down he'd catch up a few seconds later, panting for breath and push in front of me into the junction. as soon as the lights change I'd give it a few out of the saddle turns on my new gearing (48x17) to get moving, pass him by the other side of the junction and then i'd hear his gears go click clack and he'd try to jump on my rear wheel. by this time I'm starting to spin up, 100 yards down the road he's nowhere near me again. hit the next set of lights, wait for him to catch up, repeat.
thing is he was getting so annoyed about the whole thing. from colliers wood to oval he was at it, eventually having passed him again just past stockwell he actually muttered "oh for FUCKSAKE! mumble cunt" as he climbed out of the saddle the second I pass him so he can take chase again. he just refused to let me pass without trying to regain the lead. something he only managed when I came to a complete stop.
whatever race was going on in his head it must have been maddening for him.
he "won" in the end by overtaking me as I slowed for the traffic pulling away from oval tube junction by riding at ~18mph between two lines of moving cars subsequently forcing all the cars he passed him to tap their brakes and then he continued to hold up both lanes of traffic as he pootled towards kennington just squeezing through the lights as they went red, his fragile ego intact.
I encounter this same scenario all the time. Always amusing.

I make a special guest appearance in this one at 2:15

I've cycled that path a few times in the last several days. It has been a bit sketchy at times. Loads of oblivious pedestrians who can't figure out that there is traffic in both directions compounded by hordes of wobbling Boris bike riders who seem to think that it is better to swerve from side to side rather than in a straight line. At least there have been Olympic stewards with megaphones shouting at them all to 'mind the cycle path'. This could possibly be the most useful job they have done yet.

Sports organisations that persistently flaunt performance enhancer rules should be excluded from international competitions. Obviously international sporting success is important to many countries, like China, with all the money that they have been sinking into the sports programmes. If they aren't allowed to compete with sporting directors who will not clean up the programme, there will be pressure to find directors, coaches, trainers, doctors, etc who will.

The sad reality of the situation, if she has been given performance enhancers, is that if she is found to have been doped, she will be the one who is sanctioned by sports governing bodies not the coachws and trainers who are perpetuating the doping. She'll get dumped and they'll just move onto the next rising talent who will no doubt be too young to fully understand the use of performance enhancers. This will continue until entire sports programmes are sanctioned not just athletes.
Amazing all the disbelief from her supporters considering the history of Chinese doping especially in women's swimming. -
I love that fact that because she beat the mens times, she must be dopping !
It's gonna happen at some point. She's young, flexible, light and fast, she causes less drag than any of the men. See how she does in another 8 years. She beat her PB by 5 secs in the 400 IM. That is what is making everyone suspicious.
Oh yeah and the women's Chinese swim team are notorious dopers. Where there's smoke...
