i got the the lasco crankset aswell yesterday. i installed them, they look fine for me i want to get my bike on the road fast, but today i noticed that they make a nasty noise.. i dont know if anybody had this problem before.. i am using a formula hub, a 103mm sugino BB and a miche cog.. i think it is the chainline because the chain touches the outside side of the teeth of the chainset, but i cant get any smaller bb... did it happen before to anybody.? i need some help with this, that noise is loud!

hello guys! i am trying to sort out my chainline, i have a sugino BB 103mm but the chain still touches the outer side of the teeth of the chainring... Is it really bad if i put spacers on the hub..? i hope it will not need more than 2.5 mm but i am worried if there will be not very much thread for the cog and the lockring..

i don't exactly follow the math, because it sounds like you can get a chainline X+1mm and that really should be perfectly fine... eitherway, i would measure it carefully and fix it.
Thanks jersey for replying! When i tried to measure the chainline i noticed that the chain, i think, is too tight.. maybe is that the the problem for the noise.? How tight must the chain be.?

hello guys, i was trying to put a new bottom bracket on my bike but the shell was 66mm instead of 68.. And the only spacer i had was 3mm. Now the chainset is 2mm off from what it was supposed to be and the chain makes some noise.. Is that really bad? Do i need to find a proper spacer or is it fine to leave it as it is..?

If you have to file your frame's dropouts down, it's probably something very old designed for a Sturmey-Archer hub. If the frame's a lightweight, it's a pity to do this, IMO.
But if you are going to file do the bottom of the dropout, otherwise you might have alignment issues.I've done it on my old Hercules which had the same problem - It's pretty easy. I used a good 2nd cut file. Just take your time to make sure you file both sides evenly. Probably took about 20 mins. I thought about filing flats on the hub axles but decided that doing the dropouts seemed like the better bet in the long run for swapping wheels etc.
thanks guys for the tips!
