Hi there lfgss
For sale a brand new old stock on-one scandal cross country frame for 26" wheels. I bought this about 8 years ago but never built it up. Been sat in the loft covered in bubble wrap.
It is made from 7046 double butted aluminium in a brushed finish. Very light at 3.5lbs (1.59kg). It is intended for cross country use and 100-130mm front fork. Takes a standard 1 1/8 headset, 27.2 seat post, 31.8mm front mech and seat post clamp. Size is medium 18".
£145 including posting via parcel force.

Now done. Pretty happy with it apart from the fact it would not take allen key brakes! (old nutted style). I had the front fork drilled to allow this, but the rear could not be drilled for allen key fit brake as it would weaken the bridge. I ended up not installing a rear brake. Not ridden fixed since 1989 as a kid on a gold Mongoose BMX.... so it's taking some time to get used to after 25 years.

Go back in time to 1987: otherself was 9 years old and suffered a near-fatal asthma attack, Rick Astley was topping the charts with 'Never Gonna Give You Up', Timothy Dalton made his debut as James Bond in the Living Daylights and in Padova, Italy, Atala made a frame from a lump of iron ore that would find its way into to my hands over 25 years later. :)
I scored this sorry frame off ebay for 40 euros from a Slovenian seller. Shipping was an extra £30 from Slovenia to UK. It was my size (56cm c-t) and is made of strong plain gauge --but not that heavy-- Columbus Aelle tubes - with looong horizontal dropouts - what I looking for to build into a fixed gear. I've identified the model as an 'Atala Corsa GS'. Upon arrival It was clear it needed a new respray; there was a good 9 inches of surface rust under the top tube and the decals were peeling in places, so it went off to be sand blasted and powdercoated pale green (RAL 6021) with replica period-correct Atala decals in black.
After sand blasting (they masked the chrome chainstay with 3 layers of duct tape). Cost was 15 pound.
And then it went off to the powdercoaters, cost: 40 pound.

- Unbranded bullhorns 25.4mm, silver, 40cm (modern)

- Stronglight JP400 bottom bracket, 110mm, Italian thread (modern)
- Stronglight chainring 42t (parts bin)

I have been looking for a British-made Reynolds 531 frame with Nervex lugs on ebay to build into a fixed gear trainer and errands bike for some time, but they always seem to come up at prices I couldn't afford. Last month I noticed this scruffy Carlton up for sale for 45 pound B.I.N (Buy It Now), it was in my size (56cm c-t) so I snapped it up without really truly knowing what model I had bought. I thought it was a decent price for 531 double butted throughout and Nervex in a popular size. The seller said it was possibly a 'Giro D'Italia' or a 'Professional' model, but through a process of elimination and posting on forums, it came back it was actually a '68 model year Continental.
So now begins the process of renovation. The tubes look all good with no defects. Original colour appears to of been light blue with black head tube and seat band contrasts and gold lug lining. The previous owner powedercoated the forks purple but seems to have given up on the frame (!). The wrapover seatstays are gorgeous and something I find quite coquettish.
Just some 'before' photos:
Then the materials for stripping her original coat; paint stripper, triangular scraper tool 'thingy', wire brush, sandpaper block, wire wool, paint brushes to apply the stripper...
After its striped down and clean its off to the powder coaters for one colour all over. I'm still mulling over which colour but I quite fancy a mocha brown. Then I will apply a teal/turquoise colour on the headtube, seat bands and lug lining. I will do this skilled work with Coach paint and sable brush, which I've heard is the best to use when hand painting smaller areas of frames.
Colour scheme:
The match on RAL is 8025 - i will choose this 'if' the powder coaters have it in stock
Complimented w/brown saddle, skinwall tyres and Brooks turquoise leather bar tape.

I'm having to part with this beauty due to space issues. I have recently spent well over £120 on new parts including an expensive Specialities T.A middle chainring, Stronglight outer ring, Microshift gear pods, new grips, new cables (inner and matching chromed outer), new seat post, new seatclamp, new chain and an NOS stem. Frame is in good condition with no dents, dings or rust. Frame has pannier mounts as well (always usefull)
Please note it will come with an unused WTB Rocket saddle in black (not the grey charge as pictured) and pedals have been swapped to platform.
Looking for 155.00 pound collected. Leicester.
