so here is an update on the dampest of monday evenings:

Cranks still available.

bars, levers and brakes all gone.
wheels, fd and converter also more than likely gone.

27inch wheelset - 5 speed cassette on back. for 120mm on the back and 110mm on front.

46t Cottered cranks w/ cups and axle (no pins) - this came off an English BB shell.

Campag mirage front derailleur

Band-on adaptor thingy for braze on type front derailleurs

Pair of long drop (60mm-ish) brakes

Pair of brake levers

Town bike style handlebars with one grip missing

Right hand Campagnolo pedal for look cleats - heavy as hell and scuffed!

mattty suggested sticking something up here too, cast a wide net and all that. to be fair it seems like between zouo and mdcc and yourself i've learnt a bit about these yellow beauties as well as confirming what i feared, that there just aren't that many AL264s about - boo. back to the drawing board (with slightly sharper pencils....)

are you suggesting i should close one of the threads? i don't know the form, but i'm happy to do so.

Having had wee look-y on t'interweb, what actually i had in my mind's eye was the KG253, not the 464. i've seen a few of the 253 about, mostly with vertical drop-outs but one or two that look similar with track ends, would it be the same model number for both?

I was thinking of the 464, i'm sure the 596 is reasonably priced, it'd just be completely wasted on me! I think I spied a fairly bashed up 464 set-up for about 350 a while back, maybe i missed a golden opportunity....
