I stripped my frame nearly 2 years ago. Scrubbed it up with steel wool, or use a scotchbrite, to a nice shiny fine brushed look. Clean it with meths. I got it gloss clear powdered at armourtex. It still looks amazing today. Some bits of rust vein developed in the first month here and there under the clear but since then has remained constant. The coating is hard as nails I've battered the bike a few times and it's not even scratched. Bike has been used well too. Really durable finish.

Booked my fitting in today. Looking forward to it, chatted to the lady and felt straight away I was putting myself in the right hands. Conversely cyclefit put me off completely with the initial chat.

Yeah all Mavics for last 7 years or so use that ftsl freehub.

I found it cheaper here at £30 as a few Shimano using people have made enquiries.

You can change the freehubs on these wheels but no idea of the costs involved.

Front and rear wheelset. Campag freehub (can be swapped). Done a few hundred miles. Really good condition. With mavic skewers, tubes and Michelin tyres.

Nice naked frame, deep rimmed silver wheels, dura ace group...mate you need to get your own ideas going, fair play though it only took you a day.

Seriously though it looks fucking sweet but the stem is weird, imo the rise ruins it in a swiped from some Spesh hybrid kind of way.

That Wiles looks superb. Horrible original paint job originally IMO with those faded blue star things. H+Son is an interesting choice, how do they ride on a geared bike?

Yeah really nice, much smoother than I expected and they don't feel heavy either.

I was gonna put some old shamals on rebuilt but then read some guy on weight weenies raving about the sl42s he made for his geared bike as deep section aero wheels so followed his build a bit, used some light hubs and they're comfortably under 2kg a pair.

Only been riding the bike for a day so time will tell.

Yeah cool. It will change. There's some bits that are getting darker in an oily looking way and also some little rusty veins. They seem to have settled, I got it done about 2 months ago. I knew it would do this before I stripped it though, I'm all up for it evolving under the lacquer. If it gets too bad I'll just strip, fine steel wool it again and repeat.

So it doesn't look like a bunk bed frame from Argos.

The spiderweb graphics are something else.

Because I was lusting after a bike that looked like it does, just metal and leather and minimal branding/logos.

Plus I was off work for 2 months and had the time to put it all togther and strip it. Armoutex clearcoated it.

Not exactly single speed but bought the frame on here so thought I'd stick it on.
