I pulled a bike out of a skip today - a crap Falcon 10-speed 70s/80s racer type. I just want the frame for practising brazing - does anyone want any bits off of it before I bin the rest? I've got stem, bars, brakes, levers, front and rear mechs, headset, BB, seatpost, destroyed saddle, cranks and pedals - all free, of course.
What kind of brakes, cranks and pedals it got?
also interested in the stem.

Right seen as I been around here for a couple of years now i reckon i should post up my bikes. so here goes....
Raleigh Routier town bike, ugly as sin and made from so many random parts. Original thanks to rhb off here for the frame etc
Giant Bowery. changed most things above the waistline, also ugly as sin, but that seems to be a theme with my bikes..... -

Hello, long time no speak for me on here.
Just got my Hoffman Scarab IL 2010 BMX up for sale.
Its a really great bike and i'm sad to have to see it go but marriage is beckoning me so sacrifices must be made (poor student etc.....). there are no mechanical issues with it and the only marks on it are stone scratches or chips from stacked jumps. it has never been kept outside and has had a clean since these pics were taken. more pictures can be found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/70146675@N02/with/6372639471/its a great quality frame and all the parts except the pedals are stock.
looking for £150 ONO
thanks

this being the case i assume that giant use the word alloy to infer aluminium. either way fork blades of one material and a steerer of another would be a pain to nweld together at best wouldn't they?*also just checked the steerer, its not magnetic, i know that doesn't proove much but i just thought i would throw it out there
*genuinely asking

Steel can't be welded to aluminium. It can be bonded but not welded.
hence the semi educated opinion, according to my lecturers at uni it couldnt be done, but somehow giant have managed as the forks are listed in the bike specifications as "CroMo fork, alloy steerer" and looking at the joint on the bike it is obviosly a welded interface.

I have a 2010 bowery 72 and the same creak described is present.
Basically its the forks making the noise, they are made up of steel blades welded to an aluminium steerer. This is a very hard proscess to do properly and it would appear that there are flaws in some of the welds and that is what is causing the creak*
*semi-eductaed opinion

hey marcus have you still got the turbo trainer going?
Tacx T1435 Turbo trainer. About 18 months old. Condition is covered in stickers and some wear to the control cable where it has rubbed against the tyre. It's metal braided so the cable inside is fine.
The good part: I have the special Tacx track nuts that will allow you to use a 120mm track hub on the trainer 'safely'. These are included as are the special skewer and other bits.
£50 collected from Cov or Northampton as it's quite heavy and would cost a bit to post. I can deliver anywhere between those two towns.

i got the job after i was recomended to apply by my estate agent, but the aplication was done through the emal address on the website and the phone number on there.
the pay is £6 an hour i believe and the job requires a LOT of cycling and reading map skill. deliverin about 100 letters. start is at 9 and finish is between 12 and 4 depending on the length of the round. its way harder than a thought would be

Hey
Probably a bit of a long shot but does anyone know of a place that does aluminium frame modifications?
I'm thinking disc tab and track end addition
Many thanks
Joe
