how do wooden rims ride compared with their modern alloy counterparts? Can you tension the spokes to the same degree? I've got to try some... They look great anyway.
No difference, not in my opinion. You can use wood rims even for cyclo cross... Look the guys at http://www.cbita.it

if you dont mind me asking to point me in the direction of said conservation tips - stopping rust etc -not had much luck myself finding complete trustworthy info.
cheers
I use Fertan, a tannic solution. You can try Corroseal. It's probably the same.

Claud Butler 1951 New Allrounder. Almost ready to assemble. I'm waiting for the seatpost and sprocket. My first intention was to repaint the frame. Some guys from bikeforums.net persuaded me to safe and conserve the original painting. At first I stopped the rust. Then I experimented with some self made outlandish mixtures... Finally I used acrylic to restore the sanded areas and a self made pigmented wax to harmonize the different surfaces: rusty spots and areas, primer and top coat. It gaves the painting also a fine gleam.

Hi
My recently build. A Wilson of Sheffield track frame. Nigel (the actual owner of Wilcon Cycles) wrote: "*this is a priceless frame! built in the early 70's by my father Jim Wilson". *Outfitted with Campag, Cinelli, Avocet and Zeus components. Renak track hubs and nos 70's CB italia wood rims.
