My Fairphone is being delivered tomorrow. Can't figure out, if I want to keep it or sell it on and get a Moto G instead...
Got mine today. I'm no expert but very pleased so far.
Hai internets - I need suggestions for a new phone please
I currently have a Galaxy Ace, which is painfully slow and in danger of accidentally hitting a wall soon.
Features that I would like:
- Rootable
- No more out of phone memory errors
- Dual sim is a nice-to-have
- Forward & backward facing cameras
- Unlocked
Fairphone has all this, but you'll have to wait for the next batch - or get one from a kpn shop in NL
- Rootable

I'm considering ditching my iphone (when it stops working) and getting a Fairphone (http://www.fairphone.com/). Has anyone on here pre-ordered one?
Yes, I have. Quite excited! It looks like a great idea and the dual sim is especially useful for me.
I can't go to the event next week but would be very interested to hear about it. I think they'll have prototypes there.
It's not the prettiest thing, but looks aren't everything.

Not much on it yet.

also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect
The bystander effect is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer help to a victim. The probability of help is inversely related to the number of bystanders. In other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help. Several variables help to explain why the bystander effect occurs. These variables include: ambiguity, cohesiveness and diffusion of responsibility.
when he gets struck by the bus some people go over pretty quickly - I guess because it's more obvious what is going on

On the bike, the long-distance routes (LF-routes) and new fast routes (S-routes) are good - wide and smooth for faster cycling. The node routes are twisty, nice for an amble.
Off the bike, I recommend the newly opened Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh in Amsterdam, and the Anthropological Museum in Leiden. Unfortunately you have to pay for museums here - about €10-15, but they are worth it.

However, McCourt may be recalled to court: a Crown Office spokesperson said:
"Crown Counsel will give careful consideration as to whether the sentence was unduly lenient."
Councilor Andrew Burns, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council, blogged about the case, saying it was "truly appalling" and that the sentence was "a complete disgrace."
He added: "I'm pleased to hear that the Crown Office is giving careful consideration as to whether it was unduly lenient. But - equally as appalling, to me, are the Sheriff's comments [about helmets]."

Although no expert witnesses gave evidence during McCourt's trial, Sheriff James Scott said Fyfe's failure to wear a cycling helmet was a factor in her death.
So he just guessed that bit...
In England the Attorney General can appeal an unduly lenient sentence - not sure about Scotland.

Stumbled across this last night and can't see it on here. Worth a listen.
Rob Hayles and Victoria Pendleton are the guests on this episode of 5 live's dedicated cycling show, BeSpoke. With Colin Murray they preview the Giro d'Italia, talk to Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp and hear the regular features; OK Commuter and Chopper Challenge.

^nice. is there a Spotted thread?
but surely the victim or any of the witnesses just need to go to a police station at their convenience, licence plates are registered.
Yes but the registered keeper is likely to say (s)he wasn't driving it at the time. Photos of the actual assailant should go to the police.

Police have been so horrible to @roseofwinter on Twitter that she stopped exchanging tweets. Bet the do SFA unless really pushed.
Those 'police' twitters could well be Walter Mittys. It looks like her call was misgraded to me - she should have got a quicker response to an assault with suspect making off. Possibly because Chancery Lane is on the border between City and Met ground it fell through the gaps on a busy day. Pretty bad service.
Hopefully she'll make a statement so the car can be stopped at a later date.

Take this with a pinch of salt- I seem to recall that last time this subject came up it was explained by reason of the bus lane being too narrow for a bus to pass a cyclist.
Which never sounded very convincing, I will admit.
Maybe because when the buses stop at Bloomsbury Square cyclists end up overtaking into three lanes of oncoming traffic?
But making us go round the gyratory isn't a great deal safer...all needs redesigning.
