Are thes 35mm tires?

Sure...Cuba+Vietnam.

From nowadays seen, not the best or optimal solution, but it worked out. Eastern Europe (Danube) was done with another frame like this, but fixed.

Most of these era and type Raleighs were 531. There are some very few 531c ones, but I think these were later in the model run and the Reynolds sticker should look different then. Also with this size, I doubt they would have gone for 531c.

I own three of the 1977/8 precursors of these. Nice frames. Could be definitely also used for light touring (esp. your later one, has got a more relaxed geo - but then, the size...but give it a try). I rode mine through Cuba and Vietnam plus eastern Europe...

From the remaining decals: definitely end 70s (~from 78/79 on) to early eighties...decals were different before so far I know...

The B132, B135 or the B136?

The B135 at least existed once in a SSB / 31.8 version.

Also had one of them (guess the B132), but made the mistake to get the narrow 42cm version, which is of course even narrower on the tops.

Atm I go for longer stem and compact bars with modern shifters, but would be interesting to try a shorter stem with a longer reach handlebar.

And just to make sure: you're running the type 2.1 10s, not type 3 11s?

The 10s GX Type 2.1 is what I'm currently running...specified up to 36. Does this work in cases up to 40 or 42?

"Exact Actuation" and "X Actuation" are always different from cable pull, right?

Already build some 10s Srampagnolo bikes, but now I want to have a sprocket greater than 36 in the rear.

Does such a rear derailleur exist?

Haha, nope. Was also my initial thought, but so far everyone recommended not using one on them - as they could introduce a point of failure leading to a crack within months.

New Honjo fenders could work out quite nice.

Having the BQ/Jan Heine tutorial and I know about the trick with the boule ball. Any other hints/tricks on mounting?

Haha....yes. The price tag is quite hefty on them...and even the most Taiwan copies are still on the more expensive side (allthough I know one unbranded copy for 125€ incl. chainrings, which is more than ok).

Yepp, the modern TA Cranks (also now still available) have normal crank puller threading and standard dimension pedal threads as well. Also the crank is just a little bit bent outwards to clear front derailleurs better. If you're going for them: don't be irritated that they are for ISO bottom brackets - ISO has changed in 2015 and is almost identical to JIS now....

Oh, and one funky thing the previous owner of the frame did (quite well I think) - modifying something like a pletscher plate down to a butterfly stay by cutting it out. Before it was fitting only 28mm tires, now 38mm with fenders ;)

The cranks are the 2016 reissue, with them came a letter with handwritten signings by all the people involved - quite a nice detail ;)

Almost finished the Gazelle randonneur. Only missing fenders, racks+bags and lights...rides nice with the 38mm tires...
