I wouldn't bother with this, the dropouts will make it a bit of a 'mare unless you're going to magic gear it. I would look at some of Hillary Stone's frames, there's usually a thread on the first page of the classifieds but use the search anyway. They look better usually and are much easier to convert as they invariably have (nearly) horizontal dropouts. Yes you'll have to search around a bit for some cheap wheels but that isn't too arduous. You could even buy the bits and someone on here might build them up cheap for you. In the end you'll have a much better bike that you've put a bit of effort into. Having bought a bowery (although I like it) I sort of wish I'd taken my own advice.

I know Mark and I must say he's a very nice guy. I don't see a problem with him earning money from a book and TV after his round the world cycle. If it serves to inspire one person to do something similar and raise a decent amount of money for charity then it's a good thing. I think the title of the TV programme was a trifle self-indulgent but if it gets people watching then fair enough. Also, you've got to make money somehow, Chris Hoy did it with Bran Flakes, countless other athletes do it by signing up for advertising campaigns. If making money by these routes means that you've got more time to plan interesting shit to do then I say go for it. The other guy's achievement is amazing but I think he belittles himself by slagging someone else down. I think he would be better to talk about the positives that he gained from his experience.

I broke mine playing rugby at school and still get pain sometimes when it's cold. I agree with the previous post about giving it the full time to heal as the vibration of cycling on roads and the angle of your wrists on the bars will definitely inhibit healing. I feel for you mate, it's a bitch of a thing to break. My mate's dad had to get a bone graft from his hip when his didn't heal....now that really fucking hurts. In the meantime, turbo trainer to keep fitness up?
Heal soon mate.
