Neither. Campagnolo headsets aren't known for their unusual quality, never mind the campy tax you pay.
Roller bearing headsets suck, contrary to what everyone whole loves them keeps saying. They have free extra friction and they do 'brinel', I've seen plenty with lovely roller-shaped indentations on the bearing races that turned like shit.
If you're going for the classic look, get a Tange Seiki Levin, half the price of the campy headset (the CDS version being even cheaper) of which it is a copy, with double the quality.

For my Sachs duomatic (the original) funbike project. Anyone know where I can buy them? Couldn't find any retail businesses carrying this brand.
Must weigh about 1 kg for the rim alone, but weight is not a factor in this project.

I still think that the 7800 DA with the exposed gear cable is the crispest rear shift, and remains so over time. The hidden cable run is a step back IMHO. 7800 gives the second most idiot-proof shifting (taking into account the 2 paddle system AND shift performance) under pressure (not relevant here I know- few of us ride a road bike in anger). Most idiot proof under pressure would be the Di2 I think. My 2p.
Old post, but you are the first person I've come across who agrees with me on this. The exposed shifter cable design is far superior in lightness/crispness of shifting. I regularly service older Tiagra 9-speed rental bikes and every time I dial the shifting in I think, why did Shimano ever abandon this design?
The tight turn the shift cable has to make in the 'new' design shifters accounts for a lot of extra friction/ loss of crispness. Also changing cables has become much more of a pita, not because the shift cables are under the tape, but because threading an inner wire through the shifter was meant to be done by Japanese midgets only.

Have had these for ages and thought this might be the right venue to sell them.
One pair of NOS CXP 14 clincher rims, 32 hole, silver, unmachined, some shopwear:
90 quid the pair.
One pair of NOS Mavic MA2 clincher rims, 32 hole, silver. some shopwear. judging by the stickers they are of a later batch:
80 quid the pair.
One pair of NOS Mavic Module E3 clincher (def not tubular) rims, 40 hole. some shopwear:
30 quid the pair
One pair of Wolber Super Champion Modele 58 NOS clincher rims, 40 hole, some shopwear:
30 quid the pair.
Shipping from the Netherlands I have yet to figure out, but I have a hookup here on the forum (don't know his forum name though) who regularly visits the UK, so some deal may be worked out there. All rims are 700c, or 622, however you prefer.
Cheers!

@Nahguavkire: Where did you find that Fort frame? Is it black or a dark shade of green? It looks an awful lot like a frame I once had and sold. Thanks!

Tee Tee, apologies. It was late and i didn't bother looking. Still, nice bike!
Interesting about the 115 TA BB. I had the same problem test fitting the crank to the aforementioned Campag BB. I then ground off the tabs on the cup to allow the crank spider to run over the BB cup. When I torqued it to spec, the spider hit the cup on the flat side, it bottomed out.
Intersesting thing about TA Axix BB's. Of course I had looked into those, but for the life of me could not find info on whether they are ISO or JIS. I e-mailed TA, they said it is ISO. I then tried to order one through Spa Cycles (quite an authority on French parts) and they say TA are wrong and it is definately JIS and that TA are misinforming the public!!!
I have found that the 49d's will sit perfectly on a 113 mm JIS BB, so will likely go that route. I am using the cranks for a weight weenie project. I could get a 640 grms crankset (including chainring) and BB combo, yay!

bps-dfp, beautiful bike! Just out of curiosity, which BB did you use to get a correct chainline (assuming 42 mm) with the 49d's? I have been experimenting with my 49d's and found the longest ISO BB (115,5 mm Campag triple) not long enough to prevent the crankset spider from hitting the BB cup.

Hi there,
I have a Wabi cycles Lightning framset for sale 58 cm c-c
Scandium frame, carbon fork, road geo. Check out the site for more info www.wabicycles.com
It is brand new, has only had components installed. Never ridden.
I am located in the Netherlands, so shipping would be much cheaper than from US. Also, no import duties to worry about. 300 pounds plus ship.
Cheers.
For Sale. I've had these for ages, thinking a project would sooner or later pop up that needed them. But alas. They are just sitting here being pretty. They are in immaculate condition, except the box, which is scratched. For those who don't know, these are a modern interpretation of the famous Campy Sherrif Star C-Record hubs, except with better tech. See pic of spec sheet for, well... the specs. They are no longer in production. I couldn't think of a better venue for an appreciative buyer....
Looking for 200 pounds or a very good offer. Postage to the UK is 12 pounds as I am located in the Netherlands. That is a basic option, but does include track and trace. For other shipping options, please enquire. I only accept Paypal. I do propose we split the fee, though, because well, fuck Paypal :-)
