I drink plenty of water in the 2 hours before a big ride, then on the ride, one bottle of sis go, don't care what flavour, and one of water,I tend to drink the electrolyte more on the second half of the ride. I take a banana to eat. As soon as I get off the bikeI have a pint or 2 of water and a big fresh melon and banana smoothie. Thats enough for a 4 hour 75 mile training ride with not too many ill effects.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to answer my question. I'll be using well glued 23mm tyres by the look of it.
Any opinons on tyres? Conti or vittoria? They will be used on wood mostly. I was using conti supersonics but they are getting old and cracked and very slippery below 20mph on the banks, I'm hoping proper track tyres will feel a bit more secure.
The rims are weinmann 906 race, they might be 22.5mm but look closer to 23, measured on my faded old ruler.
