Probably, if this lurgy doesn't worsen. I've entered anyway, but have had last minute doubts about riding it fixed again, so might use gears if I can quickly learn how to use them in that context :S
I've booked some time off work to go and experiment tomorrow morning...
I reckon Bec is ok on fixed (though I rode gears when I had the choice!) so long as you back off a bit in the middle section. The Catford on the other hand... I don't see a way of not being under-geared at the bottom and over geared at the top given that the gradient increases so much.

Yeah, I just dug up your result on the CTC site. Wish I'd geared up a bit - 44x22 got me too anaerobic during the middle section.
I'm too old now anyway :(
A borrowed 595, you say. Sounds like foul play to me. Paper bags full of tatty fivers and a 5mm allen key from one of your rivals no doubt ;)
Now you come to mention it... it was borrowed from a team mate and I missed out on the team medal..!
I hate all hillclimbs less that 4mins. I'm just all aerobic. Having said that, team has roped me in for the Catford and Bec - not looking forward to the Latate burn! - may be see you there?

Bloody hell, (Danny). I remember this one when it was featured on londoncyclesport.
Can you confirm that the chainring bolts are all tightened properly :p
It was indeed! I used it on streatley that you did at the week end with 39x19 for a 2-32ish.
The chainring bolt incident was on a borrowed 595 Look road bike :-(
