i picked up this Geoffrey Butler touring frame last week. it has a row of braze-ons running down the non-drive side of the bike. they start before the shifter braze-on and run to the dropout. same diameter as a brake or gear cable. any clues?
Dynamo -> rear lamp wiring. along the chain stay, up the rack leg, down the mudguard

.
(I also always wondered about his tandems why he didn't have the drive chain from the rear chainring directly, like on a lot of tandems... Jack Taylor tandems have that detail too...)
shifting under power (especially with rudimentary '40s dérailleur) is better with longer chain, most noticeable on a tandem where it's very tricky to synchronise easing up on the pedals to change gear.
unfortunately this one benefit is a bit outweighed by the 4-foot chain dancing about like a motherfucker every time you shift/hit a pothole

Regrettably I'm selling my Singular Osprey - I've rebuilt it with a mix of new and lightly-used components (mostly Tiagra 4600), including a new pair of handbuilt wheels. Since the rebuild, the bike's only done a five mile test ride, it's serviced and ready to go. The frame will take full guards and front and rear racks for commuting or a bit of light touring, but as it is it's a very capable road bike. Weight as shown in pictures is 10.88kg / 24lb.

Up to London yesterday from the friendly backwater that is Bristol, lock beater in Shoreditch high street, coffee in LMNH, Brooks stolen. Back to LMNH at 5 ish, workshop very closed, explain plight, they happily fetched me a new saddle, lent me tools to fit it, didn't mock me for West Country trustworthiness fail. Such service, much impressed. Wow.

gotta be Chipping Norton, either that or Leighton Buzzard
I'm almost ashamed to admit I'm from Chipping Norton, it's not exactly a rough manor but it's pretty hilly and full of Cotswold Cunts in range rovers blasting down country lanes, and the nearest LBS is 90 minutes ride away, I'd say it deserves a place in the 'riding fixed here is a bit daft' hall of fame.

http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/mks-chromed-steel-toe-clips-prod7915/
These come in Small, I'm guessing they don't make Small double clips cos there wouldn't be enough room for the extra strap. Could always use Power Grip style straps if you need them super strong?

You plonk it on a plain (not micro-adjust) seat post and it gives you mad layback
