Ok, to keep a long story short. I am looking to get my girlfriend a new bike for Christmas, as I can no longer watch her leave for work on the death trap she bought a few months ago, it's too old, and well beyond a cheap repair job.
Ideally I am looking for a ladies bike of no more than £180., preferably with a step-through frame, rigid forks, and 3+ gears. Old or new, as long as it is from a relatively reputable brand I will definitely consider it.
NB - Singlespeeds are fine as long as it isnt running some savage gearing.

Ill keep it simple.
I'm after a 700c Wheelset (or possibly just front wheel)
As long as they spin nicely and the rims are true, then i'm interested.
I can go anywhere up to around £70 - 80 (i know, it's not a lot) but would prefer to spend less.
So if you have a set or just a nice front wheel available please let me know.
I'm free to pick up over the weekend (Based in E3 myself)

Ok, before I take everything apart I just want to check a few things.
Firstly Headset
Under heavy braking it seems to POP or Click just once, a sound that reverberates down the fork legs. Could this be due to a flattened bearing, or something more sinister. I have loosed the stem, and tighted the headset from the top. This sometimes remedies it momentarily but it always seems to come back
Any ideas?
Secondly Front Hub
Im pretty sure of the answer to this but ill ask anyway. The front wheel when spun off the ground, generates a considerable amount of vibration, the rim itself runs straight. But the vibration slows the wheel down fairly rapidly. Often as the wheel stops completely it almost sort of clicks into place. That is to say just as it seems to have stopped it moves an inch or so more (I hope that last bit makes sense.)
So anyway I have purchased a metric fuckton of 3/16" ball bearings, to replace. Is it likely that knackered bearings are at fault here.

Not sure if this is of any interest, but after trawling the web I found the mobile number for a guy who used to build Corrado frames, but now works for Solan
Ive got one from around 2005 with chromed drop outs and fork legs, made from DEDAcom 12.5 that he valued at £465 when purchased. Which was nice considering I paid £200 for the frame as part of a complete build last year.
PM if you want his mobile no.

Am going to be respraying my frame for the first time, and I wanted to know if anyone has any pointers from their past experience on what to avoid/recommended paint brands/general tips of things I might not of thought of. .
..and if anyone has any stickers for said re sprayed frame (peugeot) that'd be immense

Police are looking for a naked cyclist stalking female joggers in west London.
Detectives are examining a series of sightings of him close to the River Thames in Barnes.
Women have seen the man, either completely naked or naked from the waist down, exposing himself on towpaths and riverside roads.
But despite a large number of reports and in one case a woman recognised the man again when fully clothed, officers have not been able to identify him.
Senior officers are concerned about the incidents, especially after the man attempted to speak to several women. We are taking this extremely seriously and need to identify this man as a matter of urgency
Three women made official complaints over the summer but officers are also following up a series of sightings in recent weeks.
The first reported incident took place in May when two girls, aged 15 and 16, saw the semi-naked man get on a bicycle in Londsale Road.
In June, a second crime report was made when a 28-year-old female jogger saw the man hiding in undergrowth on the towpath between Kew Green and Twickenham Bridge.
As she returned, the man, who was semi-naked, attempted to speak to her before cycling away.
In July, a woman jogger in her early 20s reported that a naked man cycled past her on the towpath between Barnes Bridge and Hammersmith Bridge.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We are taking this extremely seriously and need to identify this man as a matter of urgency.
"The isolated locations that these incidents have occurred coupled with the lone female victims increases our level of concern."
The cyclist has been described as white and about 30 years old. -
