The one up and over from Borrowdale to Bretherdale is awful heading north over the top but improves once down in the valley, (repaired by motorists) which is worth exploring, all abandoned small farms etc, it's beautiful but creepy.

Yes, I know that one, I've run a few loops round there but not headed over with the Mountain Bike as of yet. I'm eyeing up a loop from the M6 overpass of the Orton road that goes down to Low Borrowdale and then back along the South side of Wasdale Beck. Might attempt on the morning of the 29th if any locals are up for it?

@Belagerent I thoroughly enjoyed Hayley's writing and would often send it on to non-forum friends for it's wit and accuracy. A real loss and especially heartfelt sympathy to those that knew her IRL.

I grew up nr Penrith. So the Howgills were well frequented. I don't know the south Kendal stuff. But visiting my Brother in Sedbergh and hoping to squeeze in a ride.

I spy the Howgills. I'm heading that way next week. Good route?

This sounds really interesting and will appeal to the non-coffee drinkers too. Especially if you formulate a "pep in your step" blend.

I'd say a degree of trained Herbalist affiliation or putting yourself through a course would help to lend legitimacy to the product too. It's how Pukka started out, pre being bought and sold by Unilever, that is.

Edit:Pukka aren't doing all that well (anecdotally) and also the herbal tea market is well saturated.

Well, I'm cocky enough to think I have enough skill to 'jib' off features along the trail 9/10 totally fine, 1/10 knees take the punishment. So in the interest of protecting my future riding I'll pad up.

Edit. Not XC as in race, local trails, plenty to keep you on your toes or knees...

I've seen they come recommended, they're down to £75 which is still a bit steep. I found these this morning which at £25 seems to fit the bill rather well 🤞 although likely scenario being I wear them for a couple of rides, get cocky, stop wearing them, hurt knees, can't find them, have to find another pair....

After an off last week I think I need to go back to wearing knee pads. I'm not getting younger and the knees warrant some love.

What's a good option for lightweight protection. I'm riding XC, and have lanky legs.

Thank you. It didn't come up in search for me and when I went through the menus on their site no adaptors show up. All sorted! Ta.

I managed to snap the adaptor that connects my dropper lever to my brake clamp. I picked up the adaptor by sheer luck at a bike jumble it is a for a PNW loam lever to i-spec EV (M8100) clamp. I can't find any in the usual places, but MMX adaptor looks suspiciously similar. Will that work....?

I'll put them on my Xmas list.

Came here to say that I'm half way into Spirit of The Hills by Frank Smythe, it's brilliant and a good substitute for actually being in amongst it.

Just finished Shetland Bus by David Howarth I'm not a WWII "fan" generally but it is an amazing account and well worth a read.
