Hey, it was in the classified section in case anyone wanted to sell me one. I also figured that the buying/selling dudes would have the best idea of where to look. If you tell me how to move a post I will happily do it though.

I found the above list extremely helpful, thank you very much Aroogah, I think that I might get the Schwinn Cutter or the Fuji Track... although the Langster is very appealing I reckon I can't justify the extra £150.
Thanks dudes.

Hey, my quest for a new SS Road Bike continues. Now, I've just learnt that as a sole trader i can claim 20p per mile traveled to/from work back off of my tax at the end of the year - this is good as I now have a bigger budget with which to buy a new bike. That said, I can now spend around £350 - £400. The Langster that i'm keen for remains out of my budget but I found this Fuji Track bike:
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fuji/track-2009-single-speed-road-bike-ec018091
which looks pretty dope. Does anybody have any opinions on whether this is worth getting? Do you know anywhere else that I should look? Anything good going down on the internet at the moment?
Any held is, as always, massively appreciated.

This guy is selling a Langster via Gumtree, when I called him to enquire he said that when his dad bought it for him it was Single Speed. He reckons that it fits him perfectly (5'10) but he doesn't know what size frame it is I'm almost two inches shorter than him... He wants £180 but I don't know how much I trust Gumtree. You think this sounds legit? Or even a good idea? It could well be too big. Worth having a look and running the risk of an attempted mugging? Thoughts please...

Go to this weekend's Ripley Jumble and get a great bike for £70
Do you really think that there will be good bikes on sale for that much? Just had a look at that link and everything seems to be ridiculously high end. I could feasibly get there for 0700 and have an investigate, it's just a hell of a mission from Brixton, especially with a very, very, very limited budget!

if it IS 55 then it's a bit too big. I think that I really need a 53/54 (I'm only 5'8"). I was looking at this titanium Raleigh:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290350640884&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
(currently going for £82)but figured that a little bit less weight doesn't make up for the extra wear and tear that my shoulders'd take and I might as well get one that fitted. Also looking at this Koga Miyata, I think it looks pretty good and, providing it doesn't get hellexpensive in the next 72 hours, pretty much ideal:

thoughts?
@ Chaliapin: Lookin to end up with SS.

this could be a good starter if it stays low, ok its 501, but some nice components on there...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-PEUGEOT-RACING-CYCLE-FIXIE-PROJECT_W0QQitemZ230379076934QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Bikes_GL?hash=item35a3a9bd46&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
or go straight for the jugular, low start:
Damn it, I can see the Peugeot rapidly spiralling outside of budget. Is it realistic to assume that I can get an 'ok' frame with a pretty crappy set up for £70 or under?
As I said before, whilst i do need a means of transport right now, I intend to use the bike as a project and don't really want to spank a lot on the initial investment. Anyone seen anything else for cheap out there?

I like the look of that Peugeot, forgive the incessant questioning, but is a 'small dink in the frame, no bigger than a 5p piece' anything to make me stop and reassess? It doesn't sound like a big deal to me... The condor has a 'dink' in the seat post, I can imagine that could be more problematic, am I right?

That is exactly the type of feedback that I'm looking for, thanks dude!
How much would one expect to pay for an 'entry level' road bike? As I said above, all i'm really concerned about is getting a good frame as I want the bike to be something of a project that I add to and improve as and when I get money...

Okay, I can't delete my original post so I apologise in advance for spamming:
There is this 'level one track bike' (prob around £200):
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260476434260&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
This 'Raleigh 70s ti Europa' courier bike (I don't particularly like the frame though):
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250496613020&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
This Langster frame (which I totally adore but will prob cost a bomb in the end)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110434794500&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
And this Graham Weigh bike, which is exactly as much as I want to spend and seems to be ok:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230378714735&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
As I said above, sorry bout the spammage - just need a little guidance!
Cheers

hey, I have to post three times before I can start a new thread. I can't find the info that i need anywhere so i'm hoping that one of you can help me, I'm 175cm (5'9ish) and I have a 76cm (30"ish) inside leg, I know that I typically need a 16 inch frame for a mountain bike but i'm a little bit scuppered with all the measurements that road bikes seem to require! I'm really interested in buying one of the advertised bikes on this forum but i'll be damned if i can make sense of the long list of diverse statistics on offer. Can someone please offer a n00b some assistance?

Has this definitely sold? In Outer Mongolia at the mo' and returning to London in two weeks after an 18 month break - need a bike for the lady, this seems perfect. Second dibs.
