Hi - Just trying to service a hub from a 2012 Genesis Day1 Cross. I've got the end caps off and need to drill out one of the grub screws, but I'm wondering if anyone knows why the grub screws are there? When rebuilding are these tightened after the wheel is fitted so under lateral pressure or should they be tightened first (which I suppose would hold off some of the lateral force on the bearing)?
Can anyone educate me on this?

Looking for £400 collected from Reading. Happy to meet at Reading station if it swings a deal.

It's been a while but I sold a few bikes and bits on here a while back. Now I have to make some room so have a pretty good light retro frame converted to run single speed to move on.
Has a Reynolds 531 Competition frame and 531 forks. 56cm frame so would suit someone I'd say 5' 8" to 6' foot. Paint has a few chips but no rust or dings
Mostly Shimano 600 Tricolour components - brake levers, calipers, cranks and hubs. Think it's from about 1989.
Has a Campagnolo Aero Seatpost, leather Turbo saddle, Cinelli Stem and Cenelli Criterum bars and some DMR V12 Mag pedals.
Front wheel is Campag Ypsillon rim on Shimano 600 hub and rear is a Mavic rim on Shimano 600 hub. Both have Michelin tan wall tyres.
Collection from Reading and looking for £120.
Any questions please ask.

Hope this is the right post for this.
I've got the chance to buy this German VSF FahrradManufaktur bike but I don't really know much info on them so wondered if anyone here did. I've checked out their site but the only have it in German. The bike doesn't seem to have any markings other than the brand so I'm not sure of the model.
I guess you'd call it t a touring bike. Very solidly built, has Shimano nexus hubs (HB-NX30 dynamo hub at front and a SG8-R20 at the rear).
Any thoughts on these bikes and how reliable the Nexus hub might be? It makes a slight click as I cycle so could this be a sign it's on the way out?
Thanks in advance for any info/advice.
Sorry if I wasn't clear - This is a sealed bearing hub not a cup and cone. Hopefully the picture clarifies.
