Working with a 70's Pug conversion which has of course the AVA stem and bars. Have heard that these have a reputation of failing. The stem appears to be in pretty could condition. Does anyone have any experience of these stems? Obviously not a good thing if it does fail but how common is this problem...is the risk worth it compared to either finding a used 22mm stem or buying new 22.2 and sanding it down?

In process of renovating my old 70's Peugeot. Got crappy rusted cottered cranks that are coming off. BB being replaced with a new French thread velo orange bb (that's the plan anyway).
Don't want to spend loads on this thing at the moment. Have seen a few crank sets on Ebay sold by wheel and sprocket, "eigth inch" which are an ok price.
Anyone know anything about that brand? -

Wondered what you guys make of this Peugeot. Hopefully it will still be available tomorrow which is the quickest I can make it for a viewing.
I'm guessing it's a late 80's model, am I right? Anyone know which model it is? I can't make at the name on the frame.
Old lady who's selling seemed clueless, no idea where she actually got it from!

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Most welcome. Hopefully getting the bike today and will get started on it soon...worth a go as the bike is a donation, not been used for a while and apparently it made my work mate sad looking at it every day, when I mentioned I was after something she was only too happy to give it a good home!

Cheers, some good suggestions, just worried a couple will actually make it harder work to get home but would def make me go slower ;)
