I am probably being suspicious for no reason, but today I passed a nice bike chained to a lamp post on chatsworth market. The bike was in mint condition and advertised for sale £200 ono. The bike is a Specialized Allez red and white bike. If anyone has had their bike stolen matching this model it might be worth investigating. Or if it is perfectly legitimate then this might be a good deal...

not that I brake a lot using my brake pads... but was thinking of getting some bmx brake pads to match my bike... probably not amazing but does anyone know if buying these would be a terrible idea?
At present I get slight black stains on my green deep V rims from using my front brake... would this solve the problem?

Does anyone know where I can buy a new anchor bolt and clamp washer for my Side-pull calliper brakes. My brake cable broke this morning, and on my way to get a new cable I must have lost the bolt needed to clamp the cable to the brakes... I've attached a couple of pics in case it helps identify what I'm talking about...
Thanks

p.s. the one in my hand is not the missing one obviously, but the identical part taken from the back brake

Crazy... It seems I am starting to need a holder for my New York Fahgettaboudit U lock... I don't think I got one when I bought it... unless I stupidly threw it away with the packaging... which is not beyond the realms of possibiltiy....
But I'm looking for a bike lock holder to attach my lock to my bike!!! anyone know where I can purchase such a thing? Not too crazy about carrying it in my bag cause it ways a tonne and when I put it round the handlebars it squashes the brake cable (not a good thing I am sure).

I personally measure it in the size of the sandwich I have to buy at lunch to save money.
Nice one lucas! I think I probably do spend more on lunch! Otherwise I think this is a pretty obvious thread... no ones gonna think their life any the less rich for being a cyclist!
One hour a day on my bike is exactly the ticket for me, enough exercise to balance a job infront of computers, enough excitement to keep me on my toes, a cash saving in my bank account for every day that I don't get the tube, something to stand for... a piece of road and highway code to defend... a top speed to beat... the ability to eat anything I like and not get fat! I think more people should cycle... they'd be all the richer and probably in better shape for it! who wants to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a car in a city like London anyway!

I've just got a new Gary Fisher and to my horror realized the gear ratio is all wrong for me at a 130BCD 44T x18T - it's way to easy for me especially compared to the pile of junk I was riding round with broken gears for several years. Anyway I want to change the ratio to improve the ride as I just can't go fast enough.
I was told increasing the chain ring to a 48T would do the trick but then I was also told that to do this I would need a bigger chain as the tension would be too high on an increase like this... I was then told to change the back from an 18T to a 16T and this might help... the only thing is that it might not be so simple this way either, and may not make much difference... not having a bottomless budget I'm wondering what the best way to go is? Will a change from an 18T to a 16T be noticeable? if so what's the cheapest way to go about it? If I do the work myself am I going to need 100 tools like a chain cassette lock ring and a chain link tool?

this woman pulled out into a cycle lane, blocking it
Harsh - I do that sort of thing to cars if they block my route... I pull infront of them at the lights really blocking their way and make sure to start up nice and slow when it goes green just to piss them off... dead satisfying and its a good revenge to any f****r that blocks a bike lane!

Two bikes that may have been missed for review are the:
Gary Fisher Triton £500
an
Pearson Hanzo £500I've been told the Triton is like a surly frame on a budget but i think its a bit of a looker yet the pearson seems to have a few good qualities of its own. Anyone think I'm crazy to want either of these?
They are also using a rather nice chain...
