Im looking to buy a canyon slx 7.0 and Im wavering between buying a medium and a large. I currently ride a 57 track frame with a 55.5 top tube and 90mm stem. Im worried the medium canyon will mean I'm relying on masses of seatpost and the large will be too long? alot of money to drop on a bike thats the wrong size. Can anyone help?

I was over there at Christmas and prior to that last March. My Wife's from Akaroa near Christchurch. I Saw some folks touring down the west coast of the South Island which IMHO is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
But, New Zealand roads are notoriously dangerous. A combination of fast drivers and alot of trucks (logging routes etc etc) because as PinkGottiMobbs said they are state highways. I think it would be an amazing experience but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to ride it myself. Depending on how long you're over for check out http://www.graperide.com/tose/graperide which is up in Blenhein and also http://www.lerace.co.nz/ which is more a road race type thing but could be fun. Im sure there's more stuff going on too. And if you get a chance get down to Queenstown and have a go on the DH tracks from the gondola. If you're into offroad riding you'll love it. Failing that go into a few bike shops and ask around about rides/routes. Kiwi's are a good bunch and will be more than happy to help you out.
Oh and it might be worth dropping these guys a mail? http://www.skullbikeclub.com/
Friends of Mark at Tokyo fixed and some based in Auckland (i think?). -

From what I've read he's not really come clean and said sorry for doping and ALL the lies, more that its the UCI's fault for letting him get away with it for so long. And that they are very bad people, and that he is good. And if you want to point the finger point it at the UCI because they are holding a big, unlicensed, smoking gun, full of drugs and lies.

This thread makes really depressing reading. For all the aggro, violence and excuses from drivers the basic facts are most don't like having to slow down to accommodate other road users, especially cyclists, even for a few seconds. Some I suspect don't fully understand their actions. But, the frightening fact is some actually do and just don't care. 'If you get in my way and you get hurt then its your fault, you shouldn't be there' - seems to be the prevailing attitude.
I just find it really sad that there's so much venom directed at cyclists for just riding on the road. Years ago someone I know got caught speeding and they had the option (as it was a first offence) to either pay a fine or attend a talk about the dangers of speeding. They took the talk option and said it was actually far more beneficial than just paying a fine in preventing them from doing it again. Something similar for someone who has committed an offence against a cyclist could maybe help? Im not talking about cycle training but something hard hitting like hearing from someone who caused a road fatality to actually make people stop and think about how their aggressive, dangerous driving can have life long repercussions for them and others.
The 3 points on the licence or what ever the fine is now doesn't really do much.

This is amazing:
We met at the American Airlines Admiral’s Club in the conference room, and the senior guy at Coke asked me: I need you to look me in the eye; I need you to tell me that I don’t have anything to worry about here, and I need you to give me what I need in terms of your word. And I said, I’ll do better than that. I’ll give you a contractual provision that gives you a total and complete out, and I’ll offer to refund the money you’ve paid us if this investigation ever turns anything up in terms of a positive test or if it ever happens in any other setting...

I've been reading through the ReasonedDecision.pdf and it's actually mind boggling how much he got away with, and for so long.
What I don't understand is aside from the USADA findings there's also been a Federal suit which was dropped. Surely there's more that enough grounding now to for some criminal charges given that he's made a shit load of money from winning races on drugs? Im know Im being very naive here but surely thats fraud? At the very least Perjury?
Thanks for the replies, I did the online sizing app thingy and it came up with a medium. Its just my measuring was a bit approximate.
