Hellooooo! The bike is now free! Found an angle grinder that worked and it took about 30 seconds. After all that. But the relief is huge.

The saga of the grinder continues! The first one found was deemed unfit for human use, so I've managed to borrow another one which I will use tomorrow...

Good luck! FYI - the angle grinder I have is a mains one but a) I'm not ever at my house so you'd need to arrange to pick up from a forum member who also lives there b) You may need a new blade for it as it's in the cellar and probably hasn't been used for 5 years.

I've heard horror stories of needing 8 blades, so I would come prepared. We'll see how it goes tomorrow though.

I don't know if bolt cutters will do it. It's heavy duty, hardened steel stuff. A hacksaw will probably be best.

Hi All. I haven't posted here in a long while but I need an angle grinder (and someone who knows how to use one) desperately. My key broke off into my Abus chain lock (the really tough, bad ass ones) and now, well, I obviously can't get the lock off. The good news- the bike was locked to itself and I was able to cart it home, so it's not sitting all alone on a street somewhere. If anyone can help, I will love you forever. I will obviously pay you for any blades that are dulled, etc. And will give you copious tea and toast.

I live in Haggerston, but may be able to walk/train it to where is more convienient for you if need be.

Sadly, I am out. My geared bike is about to give out, and so will spend the weekend fixing it or the single speed. Will try to get out to the memorial ride, though.

I have a single speed with these quite weird handlebars, almost shaped like a sideways banana. They are a bit too wide to ride comfortably and I want to chop off a few inches off the ends. Anyone know somewhere/someone that does this and that is not too expensive?
