NHS and private, white fillings from £45 and porcelain crowns from £350 sounds ok...
Alternatively, book a flight to SA and get it done for half the price!
My missus is a dentist here, shes pretty good and they are pretty cheap on private stuff in comparison with everything else around there...
Also she will take on NHS if thats what you are after...
give me a shout and i will pass on her details that way i can tell her to book you in through NHS if she has availablity..

i have been watching the tablet space for a while and have resisted buying one purely becuase i am still not convinced that there is a need for them...
That said the asus transformer has got excellent reviews and is about 150 quid less that its comparable alternatives... i am seriously thinking about it... Dave we await your verdict...
anyone know which stores are stocking them where i could play with one?

Nice one. I just need someone to review the HTC Sensation, then I can make up my mind.
i platyed with a pre release sensation a few weeks back, i liked it but a lot wasn't working on the handset i had tried... that said i i still would go with the galaxy s 2... its tinner, ligher and just feels better to use...
however sense on the new HTC is miles better than touchwiz but as i mentioned its easily replacable...

The screen resolution is higher than the iPhone 4?
No its a standard resolution 800*480 but the way the super amoled plus works its has double the sub pixels or something (im not 100% how it works) than the old style amoled screens that makes the screen res look amazing... if you zoom in maximum you can still see pixels which i guess you cant in the ip4 but for normal uses you will never see any pixilation...
Also the colour vibrancy on the amoled is outstanding...

So i got my Samsung galaxy s 2 last friday...
It is brilliant, as a phone it is excellent, as a smartphone its even better... everything is buttery smooth, no lag anywhere, screen is better than anything else on the market including IP4 and the best bit in my opinion, despite all of the advanced features and hardware... the batttery lasts a whole day with full on usage.... I mean browsing, calls, camera the lot...
I would recomend this to anyone, touchwiz will annoy me ina few weeks i recon but i will be replacing with launcher pro anyway...
key things
- good battery life
- immense screen quality
- switches on under 15 seconds from fully off.
- you can run as many apps as you can thihk of just doesnt slow down...
Other bits its well thin and well light... but thats because of the cheap materials used thin plastics etc... i prefer it this way but will put a lot of people off as it doesnt have any aluminium... so anyone upgrading should definately considder this one...
- good battery life

SO i went to the gadget show in birmingham on saturday, my friends family own scancomputers so went with him to help out..
i managed to get a play on the galaxy s 2 atthe samsung stand, its un friggin believable, i have never known a phone to dfeel so non exiostant, its thin , like really thin and weighs nothing at all...
Feels cheap plasticy though which is where the weight is saved but the hardware is amazing, super smooth and the screen looks like nothign i have seen before, it is crystal clear and when i played some preinstalled 720p vids it had it is actually clearer than the most expensive tv you can currently buy... anyone waiting on an upgrade, wait and play with this first...
Also i got to play with the HTC sensation but it was a pre release model and some features werent working, again screen is really good, really clear but the samsung is still twice as good, it feels heavy and a little fat, it seems thicker than my old htc HD2 as its got a curved back... new htc sense is pretty nice though, lots of little additional features and bits to make it feel acomplished again a good phone but HTC guy said that it is out any time in the next 2 months, which he recons means late june...
Finally i played with the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 on the vodaphone area in expansys, really nice bit of kit, android 3.0 is really good seems to work well on the tablet size and the samsung is really smooth with the interface.. that said they also had an ipad 2 next to it... ipad is still better IMO was really hoping the android tabs would be good but apple i think have won this market already...
anyway just wanted to share my geeky weekend experience with you...
-
so its getting closer toty he summer releases of handsets so wanted to get everyones view on stuff before upgrading...
IMO the only ones worth buying are the sam Galaxy s 2 or the HTC sensation
anyone have any views on these handsets... i have been leaning toward the galaxy for some time purely because of the screen quality but the screen on the htc is now qhd so also v good... anyone have an opinion on which they would go for?

The Galaxy S was released Jun 2010.
The HTC DHD was released Oct 2010.
"almost a year"?I've used both phones too and the Galaxy is total rubbish. It's almost unusable in some situations thanks to the now famous Samsung "lag" problem. It might be smooth if it has been rooted and had the lag fix installed. As you can see in the benchmark video, stock they are rubbish. It's not even graphics specifics that let them down, the lag problem ruins the whole user experience. DHD suffers no such problem.
What are you talking about not producing a "different handset"?
Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD, Incredible S are all different, operate differently, hit different price points have different screen sizes, etc. You are complaining because they are calling different products similar names? Are you seriously telling me that's your gripe? You know Porsche have lots of 911 versions right... ?Anyway, if you want an Android handset HTC are still far superior to Samsung.
No gripe with the names, just get a little annoyed with the way they markety them as completely diff handsets... samasung did the same with galaxy s they had about 4-5 of the same phone with diff names for diff markets but they all were labelled as from the galaxy family so everyone knoew it was same hardware pretty much except for screen and keyboard changes...
I had about 6 HTC handsets before the HD2 all of which were incredible... i think that they have become a little complacent or rather resting on their achievments of the past...
you cant seriously tell me that htc 2011 line up is better than samsung/motorola/lg?
All of the flagship handsets from the others are more advanced in hardware than the htc ones unless htc have a handset thats not announced yet?
either way its all good competition for android, the OS is awesome and its great that there are loads of manufactureres to choose from..
Anyoine getting the moto Xoom?
Dixos have pre order for 499... use the code hardware10 and get 10% off 450 is pretty special for that tablet...

"Due to get" != has. I'll believe it when I see it.
Desire, Desire HD and Desire Z are due to get 2.3. Can you say the same about the old Galaxy? No. Abandoned. Also the Galaxy S is meant to be their flagship, Google phone and yet most people prefer the Nexus One. Poor build quality, poor performance
1 year ahead in hardware? Your crack pipe is empty. Desire HD smokes the Galaxy S in pretty much everything.
YouTube - HTC Desire HD VS Samsung Galaxy S (benchmark)
Oh, the HTC Incredible S is out now with a 4" screen, bigger battery and similar hardware to the Desire HD. Battery life should be a bit better, specs a little down.
My crack pipe is never empty.
DHD was released almost a year after the galaxy s so its a second gen chip runnin gthe handset whereas sgs was the first gen of its kind.. Also i dont believe much of the benchmark nonsense, i have handled both handsets, housemates dhd, whilst feels amazing in the hand has an aweful amount of jerk and poor response on the screen...
Ill give you that the galaxy s is built from cheap plastics and feels pretty cheap in the hand but using one is brilliant, handset is so smooth its untrue, granted it wasn't like that out of the box i had to install launcher pro first but thats fine its an app from the market....
either way i still feel that HTC have shafted its users since the hd2 (last one i owned) they have not produced a single handset which is different enough from the others to warrant buying one... and still they are doing it, dhd is a decent handset (although same as hd2 in many respects) and they have released a slew of others pretty much the same but calling them by a different name... Lazy thats all...
Im unsure of what ill get this year as i am already due an upgrade but looks like the galaxy s 2 or one of the new Lg's...

Ffs, almost wishing I got a desire instead of a galaxy now
worry not, hippy doesn't like samsung as they dont provide quick updates...
Samsung galaxy s is due to get 2.3.2 in March officially through samsung... which oddly enough is quicker than htc... maybe they have realised that they are about 1 year ahead of htc in hardware and need to match it with software too...
needless to say im quite surprised... however 2.3 is a non story really... nothing has changed really...

as far as i can remember it is fairly simple to flash back to stock without any real issues..
Im running a docrambone rom its pretty smooth and fast, really easy to install too which makes it reassuring and im sure i have read somwhere that its practically impossible to brick your handset for good..
Id have a good read through the FAQ for SGS on xda developers gives all info you need really...
i love the handset, especially with all the niggles ironed out...
happy to help if you need more info..
-
ah, thanks
samsung, wtf, sort it out you losers
PP if kies isn't recognising your phone then make sure there are no apps running in the background, ie open the task manager then close all then try again..
other than that make sure you have the latest kies installed...
and then failing that flash a custom rom, they are about a hundred times better than the 2.2 from samsung...

MS Windows Mobile was an awesome smart phone OS.
I don't know what that says about the partnership with Nokia, but I look fondly on my days with an HTC Tyntyn and WM.
Here here.
I loved the old Wm had about 4 handsets before oving away from the HTC HD2...
its amazing what you dont appreciate when its available... everything thats 'cutting edge' in these new handsets, MS nailed about 10 years ago.. Amazing that people are talking about 'tethering' my original tytn did that with no problems...
That said, i loaded wp7 on my hd2 and its wank.

Excellent article on Tested.com, answers your question best.
Hummingbird vs Snapdragon vs OMAP vs Tegra 2 explained.not bad but the article is irrelevant in the sense thats comparing accross two generations.. the hummingbird is samsungs last processor and over a year old, tegra two has just been released and now samsung have released orion which you would expect to be much more powerful as the hummingbird was by far the strongest last year...
Also i have heard that the benchmark scores for the handsets above are not worth going off due to the lg 3d having no restriction on fps and 3d rendering whereas the samsung does so not a level playing field ie the orion chip is capped at X fps and 3d rendering also so will not be able to outperfrom the lg in tests but without the cap it would...
all really interesting stuff and its amazing how the mobile technology world is developing so quickly... Bonkers to think that a phone is more powerful than some laptops!!

When are the advertising standards going to get onto that I wonder?
they always have a fair usage policy in the fine print.. to be fair, it would be pretty difficult to reach the fair use policy on texts, maybe on data if u are nailing torrents or newsgroups...
Any of you guys ahve any info on the new dual core chuips... im copnfused by which is actually the best..
orion/tegra 2/omap
i thought that orion was the most advanced but some benchmarks aparently put the omap ahead??
Little asian girl looks about 12... Dr Rauf..
Yeah she works for Joseph, met him a few times, lovely bloke and by all accounts excellent dentist...
