I've got a Campag record threaded headset, and I'm trying to fit an old (mid-90s?) Veloce front brake.
The problem I'm having is that it appears that the hex-nut on the back of the front brake appears to be too big to fit 'under' the headset. By this, I don't mean the mounting bolt that you fit in the back of the forks, but the nut that sits flush with the calipers themselves.
When I try fitting it, I can't come close to tightening the mounting bolt that goes through the fork, as the hex-nut pushes up against the cup of the headset, so that it's nigh-impossible to turn the steerer.
Has anyone had this problem before? Can I just file down one side of the hex-nut? Will purchasing a different front brake solve the problem?

Hey,
I've got a 26mm Campag aero seatpost, and I need a 27.2mm post.
Anybody fancy a straight swap?img, #cubbies-overlay{ -moz-transition-property: margin, box-shadow, z-index; -moz-transition-duration: 0.1s; -webkit-transition-property: margin, box-shadow, z-index; -webkit-transition-duration: 0.1s; } .cubbies-selected{ z-index: 9999; box-shadow: 3px 3px 8px -1px blue !important; cursor: pointer !important; margin: -3px 3px 3px -3px; } .cubbies-selected:active{ box-shadow: 2px 2px 5px -1px darkblue !important; margin: -1px 1px 1px -1px; } #cubbies-overlay{ position: fixed; z-index: 9999; bottom: 30px; left: 30px; box-shadow: 0 2px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.8); border: none; } #cubbies-overlay:hover{ box-shadow: 0 2px 3px rgb(0,0,0); } -
Hey,
I'm looking for a drop bolt for helping adapt my rear brake.
I've heard that Campagnolo ones DO exist, but it's like a needle in a haystack.Any one got one down the back of their sofa?

ps. Whilst I respect Sheldon and his immense knowledge (RIP), his home-made drop bolts really were crap! http://www.sheldonbrown.com/home-drop.html

Why do you say Modolo brakes are better? I just bought a rear Modolo from Hilary (rear wheel 700c on 27" frame), which I was going to fit until I sorted a Nuovo record set at a good price.
Nigel doesn't have any CN in stock - also, I think being one of the very few established sellers of classic campag means he can charge an inflated price for some of the stuff.

Heya,
So close to finishing my bike, only to realise I have put 700c wheels on a frame designed for 27" - hence, the contemporary Veloce brake caliper is about 10mm to short. :(
I'm looking for old rear caliper with a reach of up to 57mm (or greater). Pref Campag or Modolo.
Cheers
(will consider buying front and rear if people don't want split)

Ah right - I've been placing a washer there, but it must be too thin to make a difference.
Cheers.
